How to double check if your Irish Ferry is late due to bad weather.

    Anyone who has travelled with Irish Ferries will realise they aren't that good at letting you know exactly when a ferry will depart when the conditions at sea are bad or have been bad. I've had one hour delays become 2 hour to find the ferry eventually departed 8 hours late.

    No fault of Irish Ferries but they could provide a bit more info.

    Anyway on my last trip earlier this year (departed 6 hours late) it occurred to me to check where the ferry was on marinetraffic.com for the Rosslare Pembroke trip I use this link should help https://www.marinetraffic.com/en/ais/home/centerx:-4.4/centery:51.6/zoom:9

    Google search "AIS {the vessel name}" and you will find several sites with the approximate location of the vessel. I use it all the time for Stena and IF. We have stayed at home for up to 6 hours rather than sitting in a ferry port for that time.
