Fluorescent light

    5ft one of these in kitchen in old house and got one grey wire going into the live and got two grey wires and a thinner black wire so 3 wires in total going into the neutral so what's that all about

    You'll probably find if you look closer that under the grey the wire going to the live is red and all three wires going to the neutral are black. There's nothing wrong with that.

    If you strip the grey what's beneath it? I'll be very surprised if it's not double insulation cable.

    To answer your other question...It's perfectly normal for there to be multiple neutrals at a light. There would usually only be a single neutral at the last light on the circuit or where two lights are being switched together and one is looped off the other.
