Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

Doesn’t seem to be a thread on this anywhere so said I would kick it off.
With South Africa’s withdrawal from the competition it has a lobsided look to it this year but am looking forward to the clash of Australia and New Zealand this am.

Australai under a bit of pressure to try and get a win today.

Missing tomoua and o Connor is an absolutely massive blow to Australia and one that I think will hurt today

Lolesio is a very very good player but making your debut at 10 against new Zealand is a daunting task. Anyone who hasn't seen petaia at 13 before is in for a treat.... He's going to be a fantastic player.

New Zealand by 20 for me.

They're just too strong and experienced

Can already see the jersey clash being a problem.

Be surprised if NZ don’t win by at least 15.

Are the TMO and Ref mic’d up over the tannoy for the crowd to hear there?

Was there not an element of the other Kiwi pushing him into the tackle there?

Well Ben o keeffe didn't think it was significant. The fact he actually tackled his shins was the big issue I think

They were doing that in Super Rugby aotearoa. It's a great idea

There was a bit of a nudge alright but yes the main point was what he did with his arms.
    Fair call I think.

Yeah I like it. Puts more responsibility on the TMO
    And More pressure

    They do it in league

Ah I didn’t have the volume on so couldn’t hear it. Thought it had a material impact myself though he was probably gonna cause a problem either way.

Evened up now anyway with a YC for NZ

Jordie Barrett has been Parrisse'd and Kerevi'd.

Thats a nonsense call by O'Keefe.

This is the same ref who had a shocker in Twickenham against Australia a few years back.

He's inches and milliseconds from that being a red.
If his elbow landed where he intended it to he'd be gone.

Justin Marshall talking out his hole.

    LOL

Grateful for my bet but that was a red, no doubt.

Bloody hell. Talking as if it’s perfectly natural to raise your elbow up as you’re getting tackled.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,805 ✭✭✭accensi0n

Oof, don't know about that, looked like he actually got it down with his thumb.

  • Registered Users Posts: 3,458 ✭✭✭kuang1

How the fcuk could O keeffe have said he was happy with the grounding in real time... He couldn't possibly have seen it from where he was standing.

  • Registered Users Posts: 453 ✭✭TRANQUILLO

TMO/ref interaction full of the usual pregnant pauses and neither party committing. Like a pair of politicians .

" is that what your seeing?"

  • Registered Users Posts: 798 ✭✭✭Rockbeast2

    BS

That was an "evener" for the non-red card.

    Amazing tackle.

13 minutes in and been to the TMO 4 times.

Coles try was perfectly fine imo.

Shoulder charge from Korobeite in that challenge on clarke in the in goal.

It just squirted out on a wet pitch. It was fine.

Did I see someone on here saying Caleb Clarke wasn't the biggest recently or was it a commentator somewhere?

    He's ****ing huge.

Winger wasn't ready for it despite it being obvious that it was coming. Bit bizarre

Never a good idea having someone who doesn't want to tackle as your last line of defence

    God that was awful defending.

    GROUNDING THE BALL
    1. The ball can be grounded in in-goal:
    a. By holding it and touching the ground with it; or
    b. By pressing down on it with a hand or hands, arm or arms, or the front of
the player’s body from waist to neck.

Not sure how Coles try was chalked off.

You can only "press down on it" if it's already on the ground.

If it's in the air like it was you go to 1a - you have to "hold it", being "in control" is what the refs frequently call it. Coles didn't have control because he was just pushing it down + forward with one hand.

I don't know why they were discussing "in control" unless there was a law change.

I dream of Ireland scoring a try like that
