Had a couple of punk.. I mean, anti establishment ipas from aldi just now. It's actually quite nice. Who brews it?

Picked up Brewdogs ALD IPA, still gets a laugh out of me.

Few new ones in the last couple of weeks
Hopfully Shinebright and Insideout. Both variations of neipa and really nice, insideout just edges it between them.
Ald IPA, bit of a disappointment after all the hype, not terrible though. Would be lovely on a summers day i reckon.
Anti-establishment ipa, crude version of punk, would rather just pay the bit extra for the real deal.
Memphis Blvd, elvis juice knock off, actual quite nice and possibly better than elvis juice for me. Lervig Lucky Jack grapefruit still my favourite of this type.
Ballykilcavan Line Blocker IPA, a bit harsh but not bad.
Dead Center Teeny Tiny, really nice low abv neipa. I had this after a few stronger beers and I couldn't really tell it apart from a high abv, packed with flavour

Salted caramel Lucaria stout by Thornbridge. Quite nice.

White Hag - Dark Druid chocolate coconut pastry stout. Very nice. Very very nice in fact.

Samuel Smith - Organic Chocolate Stout. Very sweet... but really this is as good as it gets. An amazing chocolate stout. Absolutely love this.

Lervig - Year of Fear Jalisco. Double pastry stout. ‘Twas ok.

Lineman Amplify - lovely clean tasting beer. An 8% DIPA shouldn't be that easy to drink!

Founders Marvelroast. If you told me you had a beer containing coffee, cocoa nibs, vanilla and milk sugar I'd have been 100% sure it was a stout of some kind, or maybe some sort of really dark ale. I'd never have guessed it would be a golden ale, and I definitely wouldn't have expected it to taste good. But curiosity got the better of me and I bought a bottle, and I'll definitely be buying more, it's lovely stuff. There's a strong aroma of coffee with some vanilla in the background, and all the flavours above are present. It's basically the weird offspring of some mad beer genius who rarely gets to see daylight or interact with real people, and all I can say is keep him locked away to see what else he comes up with.

Yeah it’s a fantastic beer, and a beer that’d be a hard sell to a non craft beer drinking person given that the description is crazy.

Thought the first couple of mouthfuls were lovely but then found it sickly sweet, will pick up another tin.

This weekend it's Hazy Jane, Camden Pale and Brewdog x Aldi collab!

Invested in a few cans of Trouble Brewing - Ambush and To ØI - House of Pale. Would recommend both. The bank holiday is starting to look better as every can passes!

To ØI - House of Pale

If you can lay your hands on Whirl Domination, it’s a much better beer.

I had one last night too. I love KBS so figured this one would be an easy win, but just didn't enjoy it. It was just too sweet - too much caramel. I had a black Boar afterwards that was amazing do maybe I was in more of a stout mood

Shame, I don't drink Founders anymore since they are a nazi brewery.

Larkin's Catalyst :Rwanda coffee rye IPA tastes very different to the previous version I think. Not as nice but smelled lovely.

    What’s this about?

They’ve had race issues in the past with an employee.

Yup. Mighty fine. Lovely nose. I thought it was nicer closer to room temperature to be honest.

I've only seen them on the Rascals site so far. I'm not ready to commit that much without trying it to be honest.

Fatal Deviation and barrel aged Fatal Deviation (canned) making a comeback in the next few weeks.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 9,741 ✭✭✭Effects

Did they have a barrel aged version before, I can't remember it?
I noticed they are doing some sort of collab with 3FE at the moment as well, which should be interesting.

They've done Farami coffee and oatmeal stout with 3FE before.
