I was going to say excellent that Mr. Duffy wouldn’t be profiting more than usual with his outrageous and indefensible fees but no, RTÉ will no doubt give us an extended show anyway on the day and rope in plenty of Mr. Duffy’s FunnyFryday Crew to feast on the RTE Gravy Train again.

An FOI question I have been considering submitting for the last few years via a press intermediary is related to the costs of De Christmas Eve Show and in particular what fees Brindin O’Cardle gets for his appearance and also if his Business Class flights from Orlando to Dublin return for him and his entourage are paid for by RTÉ.

How do I know he travels Business Class from Orlando to Dublin before Christmas? Because I had the displeasure of sitting beside them on one such flight a number of years ago. It was the worst flight of my life. And you should have seen what they were wearing - I’ve mentioned this previously on boards.

"No repro fee for one use."

Dat would be enough to get the jowls quaking if that were extended to some 'stars' of RTE.
    No repeat fees, Joe.

I was browsing de Lidl supplement dat was included in de paper of record so to speak as they say and dat and dis wunderful fantastic must have item jumped off the page and into my sphere of vision and dat. I can see these being very popular in the Dollymount/Clontarf region, and also for more transient people.

With something like this, it would be so easy to make it look cheap and tacky. But just look at her there. Pure class.

Listening back now callers, unbelievable that yesterday's topic was how incredibly devestating an outbreak in a nursing home can be.

Followed by a person from a Covid hot-spot who wants special permission to visit a nursing home. Incredible.

Making connections is not Joe's strong suit. Like people complaining about being crippelt by tax increases and then in the same breath demanding that the state pay billions for something or other

Mr. Duffy promoting alcohol, and not wearing the red velour waistcoat. Which are you more shocked by?

Thankfully Mr. Duffy spared us the mankini.

I'd say the rte legal dept are doing decades of the rosary this morning
In hope that Duffy doesn't mention Cork today never mind the unfortunate events of yesterday

Actually, "mankini", containing the word "man" is likely a symbol of the patriarchy and not very #woke, whereas maskini would be deemed gender neutral so to speak and allowable. Can someone fire off a tweet to Woke McDermott and Jennifer Gannon to see if they approve?

I'd say he'll be off this week tbh - he would if there were flights available - but either way, he shouldn't touch this story. Having said that, we know the temptation will be too much if he's in. An orgy of grief would be incoming.

PBH is on for Claire Byrne all week, perhaps Katie will return if he's off?

I don't know. Katie has the 10 pm show and the Saturday one.

    Maybe Damo.

Presumeably a full days work is too much for radio presenters so no chance of PBH as a replacement for Joe.

D’Omen at Halloween.......spookily perfect and dat.

Speaking of D’Omen I was recently in a conversation with a colleague where his name came up and I of course went straight for the jugular saying how useless he is etc. As it slowly dawned on me from the look on her face that she may know him personally I said straight out “now you’re going to tell me you’re related to him, aren’t you?”. Thankfully she replied that she wasn’t, but that she had met him at a wedding once. She assured me I hadn’t offended her.

When he can run his own programme he's excellent.

When he fills in for Joe he is given very narrow parameters.

TBH, I’ve only heard him once or twice in non-Liveline settings (Drivetime), and he was poor then too. But admittedly small sample size.
