It's a Blackwater distillery blend. Maybe the beer revolu might have more info for us?

Also will it be available in Aldi UK stores?

Teeling tasting tonight with Celtic Whiskey. Can't wait!

For this rare Teeling Tasting we will be using the last of our remaining bottles of Teeling 24 Year Old Single Malt (voted Best Single Malt in the world 2019), the 2020 release of the Teeling 28 Year Old Single Malt (best irish single malt released in 2020, in our opinion!), the brand new Teeling Renaissance Series II 18 Year Old (one of the best value malts on the market) and a very special SNEAK PREVIEW of a NEW 29 Year Old Teeling Single Cask soon to be released exclusively for Celtic Whiskey. The night will be hosted by Alex Chasko, Master Distiller/Blender at Teeling Distillery.

    Indeed.
It's a blended whiskey finished in stout and rum casks. It's a pretty small run. Good value.
None going to UK. Aldi UK have stopped buying from us, citing Brexit.

ALDI will be selling Kilbeggan 8 year old single grain for €35 on special from Sunday November 1st.

This is the discontinued line superseded by the NAS Single Grain which is a different composition.

Noticed it on Twitter feed of John Cashman (ex Cooley).

    They're both great value.

I reckon they'll have to both be grabbed.

    Anyone had the Kilbeggan?

    Anyone had the Kilbeggan?

I think I had it in the Cooley miniature set, under the Greenore branding but same product. Very nice... grassy... was a while back but I thought it had similarities with Glenfiddich 12.

Fecking Tories. Irish whisky seems to sell well from Aldi, I'm thinking of the Irish Reserve bottlings in particular.

    Hi folks,
What's your favorite Irish whiskey in the 50 euro range. Looking to try something a bit different.
Was looking at Method and Madness or maybe Green Spot.
I like RB12, Crested and like The Sexton and Fercullen 10 too.
    Thanks.

If you want something a little different I'm a big fan of the Teelings Galway Bay Imperial Stout Cask. Similar to you a big RB 12 fan

Was late in from work so watched this but left the whiskey to try another time at my leisure. Could listen to Alex Chasko talking about whiskey all night. Did anyone else try them?

I had it from a miniature set as well. Straight-forward, pleasant and light. Grassy smell and the taste was dry and uncomplicated. Not as good as Teeling Single Grain imo, but decent value at €35.

Yes, great tasting and also really like Alex.
i'd tried the 24 and 28 before and big fans of them. The single cask 29 year old does its job of being a sherried whiskey extremely well, easily one of the best I've had. For flavour and mouthfeel I'd love to try it again. For me it lacked the complexity of the 24 and 28 year old where you get hit by something different everytime you smell/taste them, which just makes them a bit more special.
I'd probably stick with the 24 year old as my favourite.

I was actually a bit disappointed with the renaissance 2, but then I wasn't a huge fan of the first one either.

You're in for a treat. A very high quality tasting. Don't know how you managed to sit there and not drink any of them!

The 18 was very decent but I wouldn't pay the money for it. The 24 is great but not available. I loved the 28 but again would struggle to justify spending €500. I thought the 29 was extraordinarily complex and will try to find some excuse to justify buying it.

I was a little underwhelmed by the 18, I tried it before and really enjoyed so I was expecting more. The 24 was as good as expected, but I dont think I could justify paying the price for the 28.

The 29 really stood out for me, quiet different from the first 3 and the flavors were amazing and I could have stayed sipping it all night.

It would be a dangerous bottle to have lying around especially at that price point.

I was up since 5am and got home just after it started. Those whiskies sound like they deserve a bit more respect! Can't wait to try them after the reviews here. I've been hoarding a few really nice whiskeys to do a 12 days of Christmas sample each night. Think I'll keep the 29 year old for that.

I have a couple of bottles of 200 fathoms which was the stout that was in those casks beforehand. Really nice stuff.

White hag brewery are doing a oyster and stout festival next month. 12 bottles of stout and 24 oysters for €65. If you don't like oysters they will send whiskey instead. Sounds interesting!

L Mulligans are doing a Bruichladdich Tasting soon. No details of samples just yet.

There could be good value on the whiskey. Oysters go for between 0.80c and €1 per oyster. I wonder what whiskey they're sending.

I can get onboard with that. I've no stout (blasphemy) in the place atm.

No word yet. I'll keep an eye on it. Used to love oysters but got a dozen years ago in a very well known five star hotel in Dublin. Ended up losing a stone in weight and off work for a week with food poisoning. Can't even look at them now!

Where’s that being advertised Cazale? Don’t see anything on white hag website.

The 27 year old is a stunning whiskey. Jealous of the Dream Cask! Let us know how it went.

The Teeling 29 year old single cask from last night's tasting has gone on sale at CWS. A snip at €600.

Just catching up on the Aldi Kilbeggan 8 year old single grain... What a blast from the past.

I haven't had that in quite some time, but in its previous incarnation as Greenore 8 year old it was part of a 'fireside whiskey tasting' combined with tasting menu that was served at the Old Schoolhouse Hotel in Ballsbridge. They served Kilbeggan, Greenore, Tyrconnell.. All the Cooley stalwarts.

( Old write up here, I think this is the event I was at.. https://www.irishtimes.com/life-and-style/food-and-drink/whiskey-galore-1.568386 )

Finished my bottle of Whistlepig rye old world cask finish last night. A mixed madeira, sauternes and port finish.

I read tasting notes (from notorious wrongthinker Jim Murray) to the effect that the rye is missing in all of this, and I'd have to agree. I think the bog standard Whistlepig offerings might be superior.

Anyone know where that whiskey is from? I don’t know much about them but I’m presuming teeling wasn’t around 29 years ago

    Cooley, most likely.
