Skellig Island should get a fair run on the Ultimate World Landmark Tournament unlike the Irish one.

Was it 180 the total was?

I make it I've been to 48, mostly in Dublin and Wicklow, though I know I've been to every county

Must try harder... And that sounds fun to try :)

Did a count - unless I went astray along the way (I'm not doing it again!) I make it 225

Off now to count how many I've been to!

That makes my total worse - must try harderer

  • Registered Users Posts: 28,791 ✭✭✭✭HeidiHeidi

Yay, I reckon I've been to 70 of them! That's fairly respectable IMO (although one or two were more of a drive-by or sail-by than an actual visit).

I think there's a couple of duplications in the list - Killary Fjord and Killary Harbour are listed under Mayo and Galway, and Knocknaree and King's Mountain are both listed under Sligo, but surely they're the same thing? (open to correction on that one!)

And there's in or around 75 that I'd never even heard of before this tournament!

That's quite the learning curve

    Was Rockall nominated?

    No actually

Don't we just use that for winding up the English though? We don't claim it, and it's not in any county.

I was trying to do a list up as the comp went along but you did a much better job Heidi, thanks! I've been to 90 of these - lots more to see and do!

I’ll think about running the World Tour edition in late November/December and take nominations throughout next month :)

Deadly. Thanks Omackeral, looking forward to it already.

I won't be able to contribute with any nominations because I'm not well travelled, but I'll be there for the main event as acting cheerleader:pac:

I'm not well travelled either. :(

I'm not well travelled either, at all, but I am looking forward to the journey, more so than the destination.

I look forward to being educated.

Nothing stopping you nominating the likes of the Pyramids, Mount Everest, Machu Pichu, Eiffel Tower etc.!

  • Registered Users Posts: 13,755 ✭✭✭✭Hello 2D Person Below

I'll be nominating quite a few places that I've never been to.

OK so I might nominate places purely on me liking THE LOOK of them rather than having ever been to them:P

Actually I have been the Eiffel Tower, & stood in a corner in the souvenir shop while the rest of the group walked round it:D

Though I was going to puke my ring. Never again!

Its a lot more exposed than I realised. That's the whole point I suppose. Don't know what I was expecting:rolleyes:

Same views of Paris from Montmartre or Belleville with a lot less hassle and more wine.

Montparnasse Tower for the best views, and there's a bar on the roof :)

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,645 ✭✭✭SineadSpears

Im not sure about that tower either.
I think I'll just stick to walking the streets, smelling the air & looking at all the handsome French men

It's a hell of a walk up the Eiffel Tower but well worth it, one of my favourite places. You want disappointment, go to the Coliseum, very overrated.
