Great news. I was about to research later how to watch a match in Vietnam while simultaneously being in Ireland but that's resolved that

Feel sorry for maguire. I really do think he needs to be taken out of the firing line for a bit. I really dint think his head is right at the moment.

    Maguire red card for England

Didn't see it so no idea how deserved it was or otherwise but that is a player that needs to be taken out of the spotlight for a little bit imo. It seems like his off field problems are affecting him.

Agree he's obviously not mentally right and until he gets his mind sorted he should not be playing for us.

    Sunday league stuff tbh.

His second yellow. Ball was passed to him in Denmarks half, his touch was horrendous, knocked it forward 10 yards... Denmark player nipped in to steel the ball as Harry goes in with the studs.

You would laugh if it was Sunday league.

Sadly two yellows in 30 mins through poor play caused by himself is a bad sign. His mindset will be terrible coming back when it was hoped the break might do him good.

Nearly injured himself a couple of mins before through poor play also.

At least Bruno was okay to start for Portugal.

He needs taking out of the firing line. Doesn't seem mentally strong enough to play his way out of this spell.

Well if the reports from the dressing room bust up are accurate its not hard to put two and two together but it wouldnt be too surprising if there was an element of truth, even if it is coming from Castles. He joined the biggest club in the world only to realise its Barry Chuckle thats in charge. It would say alot about the overarching attitude in the squad if he is the first to question things considering he is only there a wet week. Lads like Martial, Rashford, Maguire et al, earning massive salaries and only delivering in fits and starts but no fear of ever being dropped.

Was it a booking? He got the ball long before hitting the player. Debateable I suppose.

WouldPoch have told him not to do that I wonder?

Bissaka seems to be on a bit of a mad one as well lately

120 million man only on the bench as well.

Being an England fan I go through the pain of supporting Maguire on a full time basis, the joys!

He was absolutely awful in those 30 minutes, borderline embarrassing and he probably could have had a straight red after 5 minutes. That said I do have some sympathy, he looks a broken man, he was never an 80 million quid defender (not his fault we paid it) but he is a decent PL level CB, he’s so far away even from that now.

Now, I think Harry Maguire is woefully overrated and escapes far too much criticism, but he had the look of a man who is carrying the weight of the world there coming off.

That said, he's a little bit too meek to be club captain.

Cantona, Keane, Rooney, Bruce, Vidic, Neville would all be dragging you into a battle or would be a flea in the ear (rightly or wrongly) to refs.

Young and Valencia didn't strike me as great captain's either and I forget that Carrick was sometimes one too.

    Give it Fernandesy.

I agree that he shouldn’t be captain. I thought it was a bit strange that Ole made him captain as soon as he signed. But it’s clear to me that he needs to be benched for a bit. Unfortunately I can’t see that happening.

Is the Greece debacle playing on his mind?

Publicly being dropped might do more harm than good.

Luckily, he was seen clutching his hamstring a couple of times so any absence from the first team can be construed as an "injury".

Not sure why you sign a 27 year old LB and play him LM.

Martial over Cavani. Not sure why he'd walk into the team.

He gets he ball, but he's not in control whatsoever. It's a desperate lunge and could've caused a very serious injury. Not malicious, just tired and clumsy

Yeah can't have many complaints there.

Its not that long ago this was considered a good solid centre halfs challenge. But you won't get away with those anymore.

I'm starting to dread next Saturday already. All the indications are not good for our defence

Is the Greece debacle playing on his mind?

I think it has to be, towards the end of last season he was pretty decent but since the start of this one he has been beyond awful in my opinion. He is always going to be judged differently due to his price tag and that must affect him but the whole Greek mess seems to have left a mental scar on him.

I think you're going back a long way for it to have been considered a good solid challenge. Studs showing, reckless.

But the worst part was his touch, which was embarrassing.

He doesn't look to be playing himself out of any mental hangover. I would be dropping him if I was Ole, probably best for him in the long run.

The end of last season he really wasn't all that good? He was slow and pondering , his passing had gone backwards and he was making mistakes frequently. He was inconsistent. The lockdown saw him come back not as sharp as some others and then he was probably overplayed too.

He could have some wear and tear as he's basically not had a rest. Combined with distractions and a tired mind, it's a recipe for poor form

I thought he was fine for us in the second half of last season, not world class or anything but generally did a decent job.

Either way he is far worse at this point, like you say a lot of games won’t have helped and he looks mentally gone at this stage. I don’t think OGS will but I think it would be good to rest him up for a couple of weeks, put it down to a muscle injury or something and hopefully he can come back in better form.

Dropping him is highly unlikely imo, Ole has no form when it comes to dropping the "star" players.
De Gea and Pogba have been basically undroppable while playing through wretched form full of error strewn performances.

Maguire is his captain and the game's most expensive defender.

But if it did happen, out of interest who would you start at CB?
Do you think Bailly & Lindelof will work as a pairing?

Wouldn't be filled with confidence with them, but I'm not exactly confident with Maguire in there either.

If B&L, I would like to see Henderson given a chance, I would be more confident with him behind those two. But he's unlikely to drop Maguire and even more unlikely to drop DDG as well.
