    Learn to fly an airplane or helicopter. You can actually mentally rehearse flying either once you have read up bit by bit on how each manoeuvre is flown, how all the controls work. I "learned" to fly an airplane mentally before I actually did so in real life and it works brilliantly. I also did the same before taking a couple of expensive helicopter lessons and got a huge amount more out of them. Once the knowledge is on board your brain it can be used months or even years later if you try a real life flying lesson.

    You could also learn a new musical instrument, a portable one like the clarinet. By two weeks you might be able to play a bit of a tune on it.

    I am assuming it's run by the host country. He's probably on the way to Vietnam which has five-star hotels available for the mandatory quarantine.

    I really doubt that's the case. If it's not being organised by the host country as a proper quarantine, then it's a bit pointless, as no-one could tell if the person is really isolating or not. Many countries are using 5 star hotels for quarantine, but you're not getting to use the facilities.
