Rules regarding shopfront in front of residential houses

    Hi,

Does anyone know if there are any planning regulations for the placement of a container selling coffee and snacks directly opposite residential houses? Primarily the distance between the retail unit and the houses, and also the positioning of windows and serving areas.

For example, the open hatch where the staff work and serve customers is directly opposite the sitting room window of a house. It's very invasive.

I've trawled through as many planning documents as possible to find the answer, but it's difficult to find something clear.

    Thanks,
    James.

    Planning permission required.
Then you’ll need a fire safety certificate.
Then you’ll need a Disability access certificate.

The window distance will be the least of your problems.

Is this a venture you want to do or something that has popped up near you?

    Thanks Gumbo,

It's something that has popped up recently directly opposite me. Permission was granted already, however they were served with an enforcement notice recently. The problem is that I can not find any details as to what is in the enforcement notice - it doesn't appear to be Public information.

Enforcement Notice is not public information. It’s a legal letter so it goes to the building owner and appears on no public website.
