Hi all! We have been experiencing an issue on site where threads have been missing the latest postings. The platform host Vanilla are working on this issue. A workaround that has been used by some is to navigate back from 1 to 10+ pages to re-sync the thread and this will then show the latest posts. Thanks, Mike.

We don't know who is or is not available due to the positive tests and self-isolation so it's difficult to read too much into it.

Good to see Salanoa, Hodnett and Crowley on the bench.

Ah ok, I naively thought it would just be the two players who tested positive that would be missing,

That is a strong Edinburgh team, could be in trouble here

    Co-captain? Don't think I've seen that before.

I think it's fair to say that JvG is backing a lot of youth tomorrow.

Chance for the likes of Scannell and O'Donnell who have fallen down the pecking order to impress.

Great to see Goggin back after injury, he looked good last season

With a young player starting at 13 & 10 I would really have liked to have Damian DeAllande at 12. Rory Scannell is a very experienced player and maybe he actually has more of a familiarity with the two lads but DdA is absolutely world class and exactly the type of player you want to give those young fellas confidence to preform.

Otherwise a fairly well mixed team between experienced players, good squad pros & young players. Very important match in terms of how the conference went last year

JvG mentioning "a few guys in quarantine" so it's difficult to know how the combinations were formed with an unclear number of players who are unavailable.

Some young guns getting the nod, looking forward to this

Anyone know if the row between Virgin and Eir is over are am I going to have to look for this thru alternative means?

3 set to get debut in Gallagher, Salanoa, Crowley
Will be interesting to see how Gallagher goes especially.

Row not over - alternative means? I'm sure that I have no idea what you mean...

Does Toland every shut the f**k up?
Healy put a brilliant kick down the touch line and all Toland is doing is ranting nonsense unrelated to what's happening on the pitch.

    Great start from young Ben

4 excellent kicks by Healy so far. Gets some distance in to them.

Plenty to spare on them alright.

A soft enough try to give up by Munster

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Toland has been shouting about Munster’s aggressiveness but there’s been an absolute rake load of lads slipping off of tackles.

Though O'Donoghue was lucky not to be penalised there during the maul.

Looks like the 15 got it down first?

Would have been harsh on Edinburgh that.
Munster stuck on the halfway line going nowhere and a loose kick from scannell.
Despite comms suggesting it was a genius kick.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Edinburgh have so many passengers at rucks, good to see Munster target that with counters

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

Owens telling Watson twice to leave it.
    Ping him ffs.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 8,599 ✭✭✭ScrubsfanChris

    Zero aggression in defense

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,248 ✭✭✭kingofthekong

    Munster getting bullied upfront

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 7,610 ✭✭✭eigrod

    2 attacks Edinburgh, 2 tries.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 17,300 ✭✭✭✭razorblunt

An attempted offload on the floor whilst on his belly. FFS.

The backline are woeful, throwing it wide with not one person taking it to the line before passing. The Edinburgh backline just standing waiting for it.

Craig Casey makes a great break. Clearly inspired by similar runs made by John Hayes.

Ben Healy looks like a ginger Kylo Ren.

I don't mind Toland - don't really pay much attention but at times I feel like he is watching a different game.

Munster forwards second best here, need to regroup at half time.

Jack o donoghue carrying the munster team in the first half, been very good.

Munster need to offer more going forward. I'd like to see haley step in more at first receiver to stop this god awful one out man stuff

Healy should get a start for Eire

Mchenry having a bit of a mare hopefully he can pick it up second half

Did the backline only meet up this afternoon? Incredibly sloppy.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,386 ✭✭✭schmoo2k

Need to throw a few deep behind the running on forwards to get it out round the corner.

That is incredible from Conway and Marshall.

Liam Toland: "Where did Conway get the wheels?"

Where did the fastest player in the country get the wheels, Liam? Christ.

4th high tackle penalty against Edinburgh

I know Casey isn't that tall but Edinburgh have been high all night

  • Registered Users Posts: 24,258 ✭✭✭✭Buer

I refuse to believe Stephen Larkham has any significant say in Munster's attacking play.

Ben Healy pulling a Sexton on that. Great roar of indignance.

Finally a card, Joy Irwin is the video ref, Nigel asking for Joy sounded a bit weird for a second.

Was there not a punch thrown on Munster 4?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,172 ✭✭✭✭kmart6

In 60 seconds Toland said there was nothing wrong with the penalty for in from the side when it was clear as day and then praises Casey for following his kick and the speed of him cause there were 3 Munster players ahead of him, oblivious to Casey needing to get them onside.

eir must get him really cheap to continue using him.

Looked like he might have tried to and either got blocked by his own players leg or pulled back.

I assumed that he was paying Eir, no way is he being paid for this :eek::eek:

I was watching thst wondering what the f*ck he was on about. Casey fielded a kick, hoofed it and missed touch. Basic rugby demands that he instantly busts his balls to chase as he has just put his entire team offside.
