Depends on what you are comparing it to ?

To a isp provided router and no other access points , yes absolutely,

To dedicated aps then a mesh system isn’t as good, although you can hardwire each puck instead of using mesh.

Also what speed are you getting from the isp at the router ?

Does anyone have any experience with the WiFi and a Virgin box?
I have the Virgin white router, but it's plugged into the Horizon box. The wifi consistently drops a couple of times a day, but I don't know if that's the white router or the horizon box.

If its the router then I imagine this would improve reliability, but if it's the horizon box it won't.

We have Google WiFi and virgin, works a treat around the house in areas that used to have signal pockets

On a side note the UK site has max hubs down to £170 after the discount- IIRC though Google often cancel orders going to Parcel motel?

The Virgin boxes are notorious for this, once you start getting near 8-10 wifi devices in the house you will get dropouts. Put it into passthrough (bridge) mode and connect another router. I connected mine to a Mikrotik router and no issues since with dropouts.

Similar experience. I upgraded to their new bundle/router and dropouts are very infrequent now. IIRC the wifi router shouldn't be feeding off the horizon box? You should have a coax- type splitter and a direct feed into the router, but irregardless, the ****ty virgin router is the likely culprit.

Very often, wireless issues are caused by the old "b" mode on the 2.4ghz band being allowed.

You really want to select "n" or "g/n". You do not want to be using "b/g/n"

Yes...
I'm getting it for:

Improved reliability over the virgin router
Add a large number of smart home devices
Extra range (I have a number of WiFi cameras outside house & projector in garden)
Some routers struggle with my mesh 7 speaker system (hoping to get improved reliability)
It's Google and works with my chosen platform... Should provide a level of consistency

I specifically got the mesh becase the virgin router is pants. it's made a world of difference. would highly recommend

2 X e27 white Philips Hue bulbs going in the Amazon warehouse for around €14.60 at the minute. In "like new" condition with damage to the box. I bought 6 of the bayonet version from the warehouse last week with no issues.

Anyone know the lumen rating of these bulbs? Have an IKEA 1000 LM bulb in the landing but at its lowest it's too bright as a night-light

This has been my experience. Had the router replaced and still speed issues tech came and called some department and made some channel changes. Much improved speeds since but every 3rd or 4th day speed drops from 280 to 20 and I have to reset the router which brings speed back to normal. I put in an ethernet cable to the firestick so not causing any real issues.

I have 12 devices and he said I was pushing it as the limit is 15 but the Virgin website says connect up to 50 devices!

Would these not be suitable for main lights?

a lamp is what most people call a bulb. so you are getting the lamp only and not the hub

E27 warm white dimmable smart bulb and their button switch for a tenner. I've just gone through a bit of a faff to connect the button switch to my 8 gu10s on the kitchen, all working now with the switch, hue app and hey Google commands. Great piece of kit compared to the size and price of the hue switches although it won't change colour or between whites as far as I'm aware. Then throw in the bulb for a tenner makes a great deal

Those switches are brilliant. Recognized by Zigbee2mqtt, so you can easily integrate them into many various workflows around the house.

I use a bigger one as an additional one to control my smart tv...
