Yeah that's it, my wife regularly drives my car and has a very different seating position. I'd like that we could program two settings so I can always go back to my preferred setting. She also moves the wheel up and in but I think holding out for electric wheel memory may be a step too far! Basically I need S Class spec in a C Class :)

They tune incredibly well too, apparently...

Yep, the MPPSK is BMW Exhaust and tune, so sitting at 360Bhp all warranted and insured.

Beauty of this engine is it drops into the €570 a year tax bracket.

Hard beaten by any other model for that return.

Any photos? Sounds like a serious machine.

    Stunning car.

    That's it yeah, cheers!

Why are you selling and what are you looking to get into?

I want to get back in a manual car, this was my auto experiment and I'm just not mad about them(even though the DCT is obviously excellent). I might get a manual M4, E92 M3, or a 997 911, still making up my mind. Manual M4 is very hard to come by in a spec I would like.

Considered the MPPSK for my 540i too but prices are just crazy. Quoted over €5,300 from dealers in the South while the garage up north where I got the car quoted £3500.

Considering you can get 400bhp from an ecu remap by Joe Power for under €500, the pack just seems bonkers unless you're lucky enough to get it already on the car like yourself.

My wife and I share our Grand Cherokee and it has memory seats assigned to the key, keeps tje peace. Our 4 series in Ireland is driven by both of us and always causes arguments about who moved the seat which way. Memory seats in a shared car are almost essential IMO.

Mine will be down to Joe once warranty is over. For now a warrantied remap is key.

I think when i was buying Frank Keane quoted €2400 for the MPPSK on the 340i. Its not just the tune your gettign but the whole valved exhaust sound package. I then bought one with it already on.

Browsing M4s at the moment and this one caught my eye

I do love the competition wheels on them

Yes I'm well aware what the pack is and what you get. But for over 5k for 20 extra horses and a nicer sounding exhaust I'd have to be mad! I'll keep it stock anyway until warranty expires before I even think of remaps.

The 340i touring is a cracker too, have you had it long?

JB4 was another one mentioned to me too. But all too pricey compared to getting tdr performance to dyno pre and post remap, all for a good bit less.

JB4 is great on some engines but doesn’t do too well with the B58.
A BM3/MHD is far more effective and well regarded within the tuning community.

Madness what would be the pros and cons of these type of remaps compared to someone like Joe Power do it?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,738 ✭✭✭Heres Johnny

Mark I was looking at your YouTube channel and came across the PHEV twin test you did with Bob Flavin in the Superb and the 508. Your segment about no BIK on these cars, is that correct? I thought it was only BEVs that had no BIK below 50k...has this been changed to include PHEV?

Joe power is great and has worked on one of my cars previously but I think BM3 is just a better option now and Pro Tuning Freaks have a great reputation. It’s very user friendly and gives you plenty of options that you can control yourself. You also have the option of selling on the licence when selling your car. Without wanting to sound rude, google BM3 for B58. There is a wealth of knowledge online that is far better than any explanation I could give.

At the time, I thought that was the case as I had been advised it was. It’s not right however, sadly. Drove plenty of comments though :)

Not to worry, I did notice video is a month old so I'm a bit behind watching and thought there might have been a change I missed. If the govt wont even make petrol vat reclaimable for business I guess there's no hope of a bik break either sadly.

The signs would indicate that there could be a hammering for the motorist in the budget. The Greens seem to think petrol and diesel can just be switched off and full electric can begin for all overnight. Giving PHEV some sort of incentive like that for business users / leasers would help bridge the gap.

The last time the Greens were in government they made a balls of motoring with the change in motor tax. I'd be astounded if they didn't make a balls of things this time around too

It’s going to be a disaster for the motor trade, plenty of pretty normal family cars are going to take a big jump in price. The trade is in a bad place now anyway and this is nothing but another blow.

Hopefully common sense prevails for the sake of the industry in general as well as the customer.

That twin test with the phev’s wasn’t great to be honest Mark. I was blaming Bob for the totally incorrect information on benefit in kind which kind of took from the whole premise of the reviews and the financial benefits. The bit where ye were looking for the charging flap was a bit of a bad Top Gear effort.
Your RS7 review was excellent and in general your reviews are top stuff. You’ve moved quickly to the top of the Irish reviewer in both presentation and editing.
On reflection would you have RS7 or Porsche Panamera if you had a pick?

If the government has any sense they will leave things alone this budget except for sorting the vrt to take account of wltp changes.

That €350 they have been paying people out of work for the last 6 months because of Covid-19 will have to be repaid somehow. You can be sure they will claw some of it back from the motorist. The greens will want their pound of flesh too in the name of climate action.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,738 ✭✭✭Heres Johnny

Personally, and it's just a hunch, I don't think the tax changes talked about in last few weeks will come to pass this year. I can't foresee the govt taxing an industry into deeper trouble. Too many other industries in the public eye crumbling around them.

I heard from somebody in leasing that the plan is to drop standard BIK from 30% to 21% for PHEV’s effective January and for EV’s effective Jan 2022.

Anybody else hear that or something similar?

EVs are already BIK exempt until Dec 2021..... If they put 20% on them after that the incentive is minimal.
On PHEV 21% bik wouldn't tempt many..... 10k ish v the current 15k ish notional value per annum on a 50k motor.

Won't appeal to folk doing little business miles.

A few cent/litre no doubt and maybe small motor tax changes but nothing major IMO.

Diesel will definitely go up and I think it's right that it is.
