Hi just purchased first boat. It has a 1998 evinrude 40hp 2 stroke which is fine but no tilt and trim. I have found a working unit on a evinrude 70hp same year which is being broken for parts. What I need to know is can switch out the mounting brackets on the engines as they are the same dimensions only for the depth of the 70 as it houses the tilt unit. Thanks in advance for any help.

I'm not too familiar with this engine but it might be worth checking if they are the same length shaft.
