Daryl Murphy officially announced by the club as having signed up.

Massive boost and we need goals!

What happened to the lad Whelan who was scoring a lot with the U19s last year?

He is with UCD this season, has scored a few goals for them too. Think he might have gotten a scholarship with them but not certain on that. A very good striker, hopefully we see him back with the Blues at some stage.

hopefully Daryl Murphy gives us a boost, we need it badly and Fridays game at home to St Pats is very important. Cant take anymore late loses/draws

Aren't are under 19s in the Youth Champions League qualifiers ?

We seeing with Bohs getting a lot of money cause Matt Dorothy is going to spurs. Is there qny former player for us that could go to a big club and we get a few quid ?

It's pretty disappointing if the club can't tie down their promising young players - otherwise what's the point of the underage squads.

Bohs struck it lucky with Doherty - I think he only played a preseason with them before going to Wolves. But it should nearly be a standard clause for Irish clubs selling young players, and a sustainable way to run clubs.

How much did we get for Daryl Murphy when he moved to England in the early 2000s ?

Did we get anything off any of seani maguires transfers ?

A fee of around €100k was mentioned at the time I think for Murphy.

I don't think Waterford got anything for Maguire. Cork cashed in their transfer clauses for him and Browne for €500k last year to pay their bills.

This highlights the benefits of the financial discipline from Bohs who've been able to wait for ten years for a dividend from Doherty's transfer clause. They continually balance their books and finish each year with small profits.

Not so long since Bohs got a near €3.8m bailout from Dublin City Council.

Are you referring to the sale of Dalymount Park?

Rennie gone from Dundalk, must be very hard on his family etc but he is still part of the Ireland Under 21 setup (which is a good good job)

Anyone else see him return to Waterford FC for the 2021 season when/if JS leaves the post

Dundalk are a total shambles. Some of the stuff coming out about the owners is hilarious, makes Waterford's owners look totally normal in comparison.

Would love to see him back in charge at the RSC, I've no time for Sheridan after all the 'pub-league' sledging and the disrespect towards Perth.
Rennie's had a time of it following the assault, the disgraceful treatment by Power at Waterford before he walked, and then into the car-crash that is Dundalk FC.
Hope it goes well with the Ireland U21's but back in charge of the Blues long-term would be my preference.

I think for his own career it'd be a backward step to return to Waterford. He'd probably have more opportunities to work as a coach and assistant manager in bigger clubs in the UK if he does well with the Ireland U21s.

Perth would be a good option for us if JS leaves but think a Dublin club could suite him better

Way too early to be talking about replacements for a manager still in the saddle.

I'd expect JS to stay until the end of the season at least - which is end October. Lots of managers get sacked coming up to Christmas so I'd say he'd grab something in the UK if he can.

New LOI season wouldn't start until February at the earliest. Wouldn't be surprised if they laid everyone off again temporarily until the new season starts like they did last time.

Great win tonight and Daryl Murphy still to appear

    Amazingly back in 4th now

Great result, well needed, didn't see it. Judging by scoreline, dominant, did it play out that way?

Game more played but the league is mad like that, Rovers n Bohs away next so could be back to earth but Rovers looking a bit fragile atm n we’ve got a decent record in Dalymount lately.

Solid result, and needed with Bohs and rovers the next two games.

We'd actually be second in the league
If you added the dropped points in those couple of games last month..
Onwards and upwards now for the Blues.. A European place is up for grabs if we can get a bit of form and consistency going.

If Waterford finished fourth they'd be having an unbelievable season. Bohs and Rovers are on a different level so far and Dundalk are too if they're don't completely implode.

You'd be hoping that one of the top three won the cup again and they could hold on to fourth, but they could end up in a relegation playoff as easy with the way the league is this year.

If they have the two Murphy's fit and playing well they have a fighting chance.

let's pray for a top 3 cup final like 2018 (Dundalk very suspect denying that)

A euro place would be huge for the club and would indicate JS staying at the helm

Still long way to go and consistency is needed

thought we played very well vs Pats. let them come at us at 2 nil up and only for Murphy we could have conceded. Daryl will make a huge difference when he comes in. Matty Smith is a class player.

    ****ing Finn Harps

Sligo ahead of us now and Dundalk have a game in hand

  • Registered Users Posts: 37,979 ✭✭✭✭PTH2009

Some very tough games coming up for us

    Fri 11th Vs Bohs (A)
    Fri 18th vs Rovers (A)
Hard to see us picking up any points in these games. Anything other than losses a massive bonus

    We then play
Fri 25th Sep- Sligo (H)- could be a massive game in which a loss could end our European hopes

Those points lost in the Dundalk game and the 2 disappointing defeats to Sligo and Finn Harps remain very costly

Luck of the draw in the cup will determine if 4th place gets the euro spot. Keep Bohs and Rovers separate and pray that's the cup final
