I have a MK7 transit. The rubber air intake pipe is torn slightly at an inlet for one of the breather pipes that connects to the block.

Rather than get a replacement from the breakers etc.. I could've sworn there was a compound available to repair them / patch them / glue them.

Am I going mad, or can anyone think of such a thing?

Use some self amalgamating tape to repair it. Commonly available from electrical supply shops.

Are you thinking of something like sugru?

You need something elastic and airtight.
Even duct tape will do in the short term.
