Thanks for the info, I really missed Aertel with my morning cuppa. My 5 year old Toshiba TV cant seem to pick up the new digital text, even though it picks up Saorview perfectly.
Try resetting the TV and choosing UK as your country (presumably MHEG5 gets disabled if UK isn't chosen). This worked for me on an older Tosh I tried it on.

The SV channels will probably end up in the 800s, though the model I used allowed manual changing of the channel number.

I don't seem to have that option in my TV's menu, only countries I have are Ireland & France and cannot seem to change to France, can't access it.

Also thanks for your reply Antenna.

I also tested this with an Ariva 120 but by editing the existing channels in a dumpfile with the editor rather than trying to create new one, and the main problem seems to be the receiver autoupdates the PIDs.

So if you take RTÉ One APID (2307) and replace with the APID for Radio 1 (2318), when you upload the new dumpfile, the receiver overwrites the APID again with 2307.

You can stop the autoupdating by using a false Service ID. So change the RTÉ One SID from 9601 to 9999 and change the APID to 2318 and when you upload now, you can get Radio 1 audio on RTÉ One. But when you try to access Teletext, you get an error of 'Missing Data'. This is because when you use the false SID, the receiver can't find the Teletext PID. If you had a better channel editor which allowed you to set the Teletext PID manually, then it would sort this problem.

Just to confirm the above was working as outlined, I did a similar test on BBC 1 Scotland, where I used a false SID to stop autoupdating, and I was able to view the BBC 1 Scotland picture but with the BBCR5 Extra audio.

Having made this work on a Technomate over the weekend it occured to me that the Ariva has a default and a normal channel list. Is that whats changing the APID back ? Otherwise its a network updating feature which I would be surprised was implemented.

Does the Technomate ordinarily autoupdate PIDs?

What's the difference between the 'default' and 'normal' channel list?

If I change the name of the channel, then that is reflected in the receiver. But changes to PIDs are overwritten as soon as the file is uploaded. Only by changing the SID can I force the Ariva not to overwrite the APID.

I here RTE are scrapping Aertel just like the Digital radio channels, I don't think they'll do either.
