Can I use an old plastic coal bunker as a composter?

I have an old plastic coal bunker and wondering if I could use it as a composter.
It is exactly like this one

If it is safe to use, would i need to remove the base of it, or would it be enough to drill large holes in the base.
Also, would I need to drill holes in the side for air?

Is there anything else I would need to do?

Yeah, been scrubbing it all morning

Tougher than I thought. I have it upside down now drying out, plan on giving it another hose down and scrub when I go back out.

Would loads of 2 inch holes in the bottom be enough for the worms to get in and work, or would I need to cut the bottom off altogether?
Also, I am unsure on whether or not it needs airholes.

Thanks, I can't see it being too compact, so I will not bother with air holes for now.
