Hi guys, would 2017 edition of Companies Act 2014 suffice for exam legislation or no? Must be 2018 edition or newer? Thank you!

Word of caution for any FE1 'first timers'-- a few of the top firms only accept trainees who complete all FE1s within a certain number of sittings (e.g. 3). Worth bearing in mind when planning your topics for October as today is likely to count as 1/3 of your sittings! Wish someone had told me this when I started :/

FE1.. 'First timers' .. completely disregard this totally incorrect information

Best of luck to everyone sitting Tort this morning. Let us know what comes up :)

I've been totally off the gird recently.. what's going on? Was Tort not in early August?

Is it a face-to-face exam or online?

Any dates out for Octobers sitting yet?

There's an online sitting for the people from Kildare Offaly and Laois who did not attend the August sitting earlier this month. No dates yet officially from the law soc, and still no application form either for October

    Hi everyone

Just wondering do you think it's worth applying to the milk rounds this year if you haven't passed any FE1s yet. I am sitting four in October but the applications will be closed before I know if I have passed them or not.

First time applying so not sure if they tend to favour applicants who have sat and passed a few already.

    Thanks

The big firms don't care too much about how many Fe-1's you've done, if it all, as they usually recruit years in advance. AC and MHC basically recruit all of their trainees from their summer interns, and most of their summer interns are still college students.

Sorry but what are these milk rounds? And why do you have to apply to go to them? From my vague experience in similar situations it was a complete waste of time graduate fair which is just really a way for companies to advertise their jobs rather than for students to get a foot in the door and apply with a great chance of being accepted. Sorry if I'm mixing up what a milkround is, I've never heard of them.

Milkrounds are the application processes to secure a TC - usually open up around Sept/Oct.

And most law firms bar A&L Goodbody are doing them? Do you apply online on their websites?

Every year yeah all the big law firms go through the milkrounds and applications are usually found under the career section etc on each website. From what I remember tho a lot of places usually recruit a couple years in advance

Employers liability, private nuisance, occupiers liability and causation in one question, damages, nervous shock, contributory negligence, trespass to the person and I’m missing one. It was grand.

Please note that results for the August FE-1 sitting will not be released on Monday. Apologies for any confusion caused by the previous notice.
Students who took part in the special sitting will receive an email directly from the FE-1 section when results are ready for release.

    Law Society just now..

I’d say it could be done in batches and everyone may have a different ‘results day’

People who didn’t do an undergrad in law would easily have never heard of milk rounds

It’s just a name used for the application process for the bigger firms

Smaller firms advertise for trainees differently and throughout the year
