Anyone end up buying these shoes? Would be interested in what your thoughts would be

Wouldn't it be better to buy shoes from companies that specialise in shoes?

I was only asking a question.

I bought the ambassador package a couple of months ago from druids, absolutely top class and excellent value. The shoes were included, all I can tell you is they are extremely comfortable and look great. I wore them 3 or 4 times before lockdown with no issues, wasn't in bad weather so can't tell you about getting soaked! But they aren't expensive, look well and I would definitely recommend druids

Thanks a million. I had gotten a few polos from them alright, and the club got gear with them so I got a gillet and zippy. The shoes just looked so reasonably priced I was very tempted! Would be wary about in the cold/wet though. Thanks again for the reply.

I've had mixed experience with Druid. Polos are fine, hard to mess them up. Jacket and trousers I have are ill fitting. Jacket too loose around the belly, probably good if you're a bit rotund. Trousers are too slim at the calves and I wouldn't say I have big calves

Purchased the shoes last week €49 + postage €58 total, took a chance at that price, have to say exceeded my expectations for that price level.

Lightweight, comfortable fitting and look good.

They are doing a range finder and polo promotion for the Masters, €125.

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭willabur

got a few of their things.
Polos are fine, pretty cheap stretchy material. Not a patch on the polos that the duck hook guys are selling
Gilet is great, really like it
Don't like the jacket, not a good fit for me as it catches around the shoulders. not a good thing for a golf jacket to do

They are doing a deal on the rangefinder again with a hat / cap. Has anyone used one of these or how do they compare to others?

Would anyone know Is the Druids Golf in Ireland & Scotland one & the same, I have had a nightmare experience with them, first order never arrived ( from tracking courier lost it), unbelievably difficult to get in touch with, left Twitter messages, Facebook messenger, their direct WhatsApp, countless emails, kept getting a standard reply promising to get back in 24 hours but then never did, had to start calling them out on Twitter for poor service before getting a reply…order finally arrived today after they resent it, they got 2 clothing items out of 4 totally wrong, e.g. sent shorts instead of trousers.

also would anyone have a working contact number for them to actually speak to a human?

Only ordered once and didn't have any issues. I can see how you would be frustrated. They have good gear and are great value but when you have messing about like you have it takes the good out of it.

I got a trolley last year. It's cheap for a reason. The front wheel never adjusted correctly left/right and I've had to reassemble the adjuster mechanism so that it's stuck in one orientation. I also broke off one of the straps for a bag when closing it. The plastic didn't seem particularly durable. Several screws/bolts were loose and had to be re-tightened. The bolt on the foot brake fell off one day without me realising also.

I got on to Druids by email about the strap before Xmas and had been promised that someone would help with getting the part. After some unanswered emails, no follow-ups etc, someone got back to me in the last week of April and I received the strap the following week. I was happy to pay as I broke it but in fairness, they didn't want anything and posted it free of charge.

From the limited correspondence I've had, they did seem overwhelmed with orders/queries. That was the same as clubhouse and other UK suppliers during the covid golf boom. I think they should be better from customer service POV now but I probably won't order again given the quality issues on the trolley and swarm of marketing emails/texts.

I ordered a pair of their shoes last week. They just arrived today and they look great and seem like good quality.

However, I ordered a size 9.5 and just tried them on now and they are very tight fitting.

I just contacted them now about exchanging them for a bigger size and was told they will exchange them no problem. But they don't offer free return shipping and I'll need to arrange my own courier to send the shoes back.

That's a bit disappointing as most retailers offer free return shipping. And arranging my own courier is a bit of a hassle. I might be better off trying to sell them and just ordering another pair instead.

As I said, they seem like great quality and they look the part, but this would slightly put me off ordering from them again soon.

I wouldn't get a huge amount online but have returned a few things. I've always had to pay to return them.

  • Registered Users Posts: 308 ✭✭redhill

From my earlier post on this thread a few weeks ago (order never arrived, then when eventually got it, 2 of 4 items completely wrong) they also want me to pay for return postage, I think this is terrible Customer service when they have sent out the wrong stuff.

Druids stuff may be good but I won’t be a returning customer after all the hassle

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,427 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

Most places offer free return postage in my experience.

Druids said I had to arrange my own courier and pay for the return myself. Then I have to pay the additional shipping charges for the new pair of shoes to be sent to me again.

Just too much of a hassle and has put me off altogether so I've stuck them up for sale. Hopefully i can sell them and put the money towards a different pair. I've only recently taken up golf and I'm well and truly hooked but it gets pricey! :D

  • Registered Users Posts: 7,985 ✭✭✭youcancallmeal

I ordered pair of trousers pre-brexit and they arrived with no zip. They sent out another pair free of charge and didn't ask me to return the other pair. I think for faulty stuff they won't charge for returns and posting out the item again but for returns due to sizing I guess they are now putting the costs onto the customer due to increased shipping costs from the UK

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,427 ✭✭✭✭El Guapo!

I wouldn't mind if I had ordered the wrong size. I'm normally a 9.5 but these just don't fit. They're fairly tight so maybe I just have extra wide feet!

It's a pity there are no companies based in Ireland offering similarly priced golf gear. Anywhere I've seen so far seems to be much more expensive.

I out in an order a few weeks back and came with no issues. The sizing on the midlayer is fine, i take an XL in nearly everything and it was good. however the XL t-shirt was way too tight on me. You would wonder how they could be bang on in one item and way off in another.

  • Registered Users Posts: 4,504 ✭✭✭blue note

Clothing sizes vary from manufacturer to manufacturer. I'd be medium most of the time. Small the odd time, generally with American brands. And large very rarely. But shoe sizes really vary.

To be honest, I think they should make you pay for returns. There's so much waste with all of the Internet shopping in the packaging and transport. Free returns just makes people so much more likely to buy stuff that they will most likely return.

And sticking them up for sale is going to be more hassle and cost you more. Returning them will be less than a tenner. There's no way I'd buy shoes from adverts where you have no come back if something goes wrong to save a tenner. So you'd take a bigger hit and instead of just having to pop down to the post office to return them you'll have to put up the ad, take a few queries and then arrange to have them collected. Or possibly courier them to someone.

Wife has taken up golf and was looking for a caddycar and lo and behold up they pop on Facebook.

About 100 cheaper than similar ones in McGuirks etc so was wondering if anyone has any experience of the Druids caddycar?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,596 ✭✭✭coillcam

See my post earlier in the thread. They're cheap and the build quality reflects the price. You'd be better off putting the same money into a used trolley of better quality.

  • Registered Users Posts: 2,894 ✭✭✭Dr Turk Turkelton

Thanks coillcam must have missed that.

    I'll avoid so.

Any try the rain suits from Druids? Any feedback?

  • Registered Users Posts: 1,603 ✭✭✭willabur

My experience with them is that you get the quality you pay for.

  • Registered Users Posts: 630 ✭✭✭gman127

I picked this up a few weeks ago. Very happy with it. Arrived within a few days and no issues so far anyway

I think it's hit a miss with them. 2 of my mates both bought the 3 wheel trolley last year, think it was on sale for €99 or something like that. One of them had no issue and loves his and the other the wheels were never right, made a clicking sound from the day he started using it and the after about a month 1 wheel used to just completely locked-up.

Whatever chance they had of me buying anything from them ended the day they got Brian McFadden on board to advertise for them. And I don't care how petty that makes me sound!!
