Looking for a book on a person's legal rights in Ireland

Can anyone recommend a book on a person's legal rights in Ireland.

It might be a case of biting off a bit more than you can chew being completely honest. Legal rights in Ireland is a bit broad as a topic and is essentially asking "is there a book where I can find out everything about the law in Ireland"?

Have you particular rights in mind maybe?

Nothing specific. Just a good all round summary, a guide that you could use for reference that would show you what your rights are as a citizen, what your rights are in different situations e.g what your rights are regarding property, finance, work, education, crime etc.

I know there are guides that deal specifically with different subjects such as Probate, Personal Finance etc.

I'm looking for something that would give an all round summary.

It sounds like you might be looking for something like www.citizensinformation.ie where there are plenty of easily digestible summaries of personal rights in situations like those described. I would caution against taking it in place of professional legal advice but it generally gives good guidance on many legal issues.

I don't know of any book that would be better than citizensinformation.ie in covering a broad range of topics that can be referred to occasionally. Not saying there isn't one just that I'm not aware of one (and also I'm not sure I'd buy such a book when it would probably be obsolete next month.)

Unfortunately, I am reasonably sure there is not a one-stop-shop professional legal reference book that would give you what you're looking for (and again, the obsolescence would be an issue for me in buying such a book.)

Principals of Irish law by Brian Doolan is a very insightful and informative book regarding all Irish law.

Some of the political parties did/do a leaflet on such things. I know I got a booklet of about 24 pages from FG called "the law on your side" and got one of those A3 6 panel leaflets from FF called "the law and you" or something like that. Might be worth contacting your local TDs.

The Article says the Author is a sexual abuser. Never heard of this case before.
