The odds have already shortened, if trump gets a boost this week then he has got this.

    Oh-oh..

2nd Day of the convention , 2nd day of declining support with the only pollster that ever shows positive numbers for him.

    Surely it's a "Collapse" now??

Doesn't look like he's getting that boost so far.

Why does Donnie jr's missus look like his stepmothers doppelganger. Seriously fcuked up family, dad wants to bang his daughter, son wants to bang his stepmom. They're a mullet and a banjo away from their base.

Guilfoyle gets around and clearly has a thing for the politically connected - remember she's been married twice, divorced prior to her adulterous affair with #IMPOTUS jr., who was married at the time to the mother of his 4 children, but has since divorced from her.

Lest we forget, Kimberly Guilfoyle was married to Gavin Newsom. So, she clearly likes some Democratic politicians....

Worst thing of all, she's eligible for Irish citizenship through her father.

Trump needs to target Biden on law & order.

It's about Trump's only path to victory.

The odds will shorten as cities experience civil unrest.
Its hard to run on law and order when so much of your campaign team from last time out are currently in prison, or only out because you pardoned/commuted their sentences without reason, and when the only reason he isn't there with them is immunity from a senate that will acquit him while openly admitting his guilt.

Outside of his base who would support anything to leave his mouth, even if it is the opposite of what he said teh day previous which they also supported (which has happened countless times already), it won't fly.

All he had to run on was not messing up Obama and Biden's economy, but now even that lies in tatters along with 182,500 dead and so his only remaining hope is stopping enough people from voting in 'blue' and even 'purple' areas. Which is why DeJoy is doing what he is doing with the postal service.

Lots of people won't admit they are going to vote for Trump, even on polls.

back exactly where he was a week ago

Exactly - But Trump shouts from the roof top every time it briefly blips above the 50% mark as if it means something.

His support is incredibly stable albeit record breakingly low.

But getting all excited about a single data point in daily polling is utterly stupid.. It's the trend that matters and his trend is consistently below 50%

Yes ,thats right, everybody who votes for Trump is blind, unquestioning and worships the ground beneath his feet.
    It goes without saying.

There can be no middle ground with some posters on this thread.
My comment was in direct response to your predictable need to shoehorn in whataboutism about as you put it, "messiah Obama".

Thanks for proving my point about being beyond parody.

Trevor Noah breaks down the signals analysis from the RNC

Their messaging is indeed very schizophrenic.

He's on the ball in fairness. The messaging is chaotic and the picture they paint of America in chaos is laughable when you think that it's their guy is in the White House for the last 3 and a half years. Trump has overseen the dystopian nightmare they are painting but you know whose fault it really is...... Obama!

    It's deliberate.

They are desperate for it not to be a "Trump Referendum" because that only ends one way.

So the messaging is basically - "Forget that the last 4 years happened and remember all those reasons that you voted for Trump in 2016 because it's all Obamas fault"

Who said anything about a silent majority? The polls for the 2016 election certainly got it wrong, and the 2020 one could be equally off.

    It goes without saying.

There can be no middle ground with some posters on this thread.

Can there be a middle ground though? Trump has been such a disaster across so many areas that to get to a middle ground one has to make all sorts of excuses.

Is there a middle ground on how he has handled the virus? Even by his own standards he has failed.

Is there a middle ground on record unemployment, on record deficit? Is there a middle ground on him breaking the Hatch Act, or Ivanka, or KAC?

Is there a middle ground for him choosing not to call out neo nazi marches? Is there a middle ground in him wishing charged sexual predators all the best but calling on police to crack heads of protestors?

Is there a middle ground in him looking to ban Muslim immigrants and supporting people who have called for Muslims to be excluded from government jobs and Uber?

Is there a middle ground to 180k deaths 9n his watch?

There should always be a middle ground in politics, that is where the majority reside. But Trump has gone out of way to eschew the middle ground, looking only to his base and his vision.

This part of Don Jr speech was very North Korea dear leader-esque:

Imagine the life you want to have, one with a great job, a beautiful home, a perfect family. You can have it.

Only the dear leader can bring you happiness. Watching the RNC you can see the GOP have descended into a deep cult of personality. Fascinating really.

    No - They didn't.

This has been covered over and over again.

What happened was people don't understand statistics and data science/analytics.

The Media over-hyped the polling data showing Clinton in the lead and nationally the polls were spot on in terms of total vote. Crucially though , the Clinton lead was inside the margin of error across the board.

They were also accurate in the swing states - All the results were inside the margin of error and there was no instance where either candidate was outside those margins (above or below).

There were no "hidden" or "shy" voters that suddenly appeared to take everyone by surprise

Right now , the gap between Biden and Trump is well outside the Margin of error nationally and in multiple Swing States.

If it stays like that , the result will only go one way.

Trump can of course close that gap (and he has made some inroads in a few places , but not enough yet) but he has a long way to go to get into a place where overall victory is possible.

The election came down to about 80,000 votes in 3 swing states. This despite losing the popular vote overall by ~3M votes.

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/news/the-fix/wp/2016/12/01/donald-trump-will-be-president-thanks-to-80000-people-in-three-states/

It had nothing to do with the polls, so much as it did the thin margins in play.

This RNC has such an overwhelmingly negative vibe to it. Not arsed watching any more of it. Although tbf I never get anything out of watching these. The DNC one at least had a bit more of a positive tone.

They know what they're doing. The number of undecided voters this time around is quite low so Trump and the Republicans are essentially focusing on their voters only, they have no interest in reaching out across the divide. The message of fear and demonisation of the Democrats is designed to rile up the base and maximize turnout.

Turnout will be a huge factor this year and by playing up to fears about Dems taking away your guns, black people moving into your white middle class suburb and Dems taking away your church are all designed to frighten the Trump base into turning out more than the Dem voters. And it might work.

Full tilt grifting email ahead of Trumps convention speech

    https://www.mediaite.com/news/trump-promises-convention-speech-attached-in-latest-fundraising-email-but-is-his-rnc-convention-speech-attached/

Tells subscribers to the emails that his convention speech is attached, with a paperclip emoji (it's not) and really the email wants supporters to give their feedback to the president to help him make the speech (because this is what they've become now, the president isn't leading he's crowdsourcing his opinions from gmail) - it asks them to fill out a survey with some hilariously loaded questions and then when you're done with all of that it grifts you into donating so your feedback will be "The FIRST" feedback that Trump sees (not disclaimed: that the offer is only logically good for the first person to donate). Utter mess.

That why speakers are dropping out due to anti-semitic retweeting at the last minute?
He didn't drop out of the RNC, the RNC dropped him because he sent out an anti-semitic pro QAnon tweet. Nothing wrong with that. It shows how the Republicans are capable of policing their own as opposed to the Democrats who's convention was rife with anti-semites and Louis Farrakhan supporters.

And the #IMPOTUS's promise to speak every night hasn't happened?
That's probably for the better. One's perspective on America tends to improve tremendously when President Trump isn't the centre of attention.

Do please highlight the optimism gushing from the RNC.
The speeches by Senator Tim Scott and Ambassador Nicki Haley were excellent. Their life stories just about demonstrate what an amazing place America is.

The speech by the Cuban immigrant was also excellent.

    All very optimistic!

Do you even know what those people from St. Louis were charged with? And, how is that action optimistic? You're optimistic everyone taking the law into their own hands if the #IMPOTUS is reelected, is somehow good?
They were charged with unlawful use of a weapon and fourth-degree assault.
    Both charges are bogus.

A rowdy mob of people intruded on private property. They had the right to brandish their weapons at anybody whom they believed a threat to themselves or their property.

It is true that they handled their weapons in an unprofessional manner but they committed no crime. It was yet another example of these elected prosecutors going after people in order to secure their own re-elections.

Was Farrakhan there? I must have missed it.

    What anti-semites were there?

In other words, it's better for all that Trump stays in his bunker. Got it.

Is that the same Nikki Haley that excoriated Trump for using 'language I don't teach my own children to use?' Or the one who abruptly abandoned her post as governor to be an ambassador only to swiftly disappear from that job because she was about to be investigated for serious ethics violations?

Scott is the party's token minority senator, they will cast him off as a RINO the minute he steps off the party line.

They have multiple Q-Anon believers running in the election... And the president basically said he likes them since they like him. So the loons are running the asylum tbh.

Well we know you haven't watched a second of the RNC based on this. The main themes so far have been death, chaos, and overall fear. The most interesting part is that Republicans and Trumpists paint this picture of America being absolute hellhole but their guy has been in charge for the last 3.5 years!

You're wrong I have watched it. And it is an optimistic vision that says that people like Tim Scott and Nicki Haley and that Cuban immigrant can overcome great odds in order to build a better life for themselves and their children. If the Republicans can keep the orange guy off Twitter and keep telling stories like that or the next couple of months of what America is and can continue to be, Biden doesn't stand a chance.

Yes, many speakers lambasted the Democrats for allowing rabble rousers to wreck their cities unimpeded for the last few months. And as I've said Kimberly Guilfoyle made a fool of herself by screaming her head off (forgetting there was no crowd) about how Democrats have turned California, some of the most beautiful land on planet earth, into a hell-hole.

It was an optimistic vision of America juxtaposed with evidence of Democratic mismanagement of the parts of the country they control. Naturally the media never bothered to focus on the positive material except to call Tim Scott and Herschel Walker "Uncle Toms".
