    Propane vs Butane on Provence Portable Gas Fire Manufactured by Sahara
    ========================================================

    I am looking at using one of the above heaters in an open on two sides gazebo. https://www.saharabbqs.com/products/provence-portable-gas-fire/?utm_campaign=Sahara+IE+-+Indoor+Gas+Heater&utm_source=google&utm_medium=ppc&utm_term=indoor%20portable%20gas%20heaters&utm_content=3089353xEAIaIQobChMIhaSO-cqx6wIVkWDmCh1-lABOEAAYASAAEgKRF_D_BwE

    The manufacturers say the heater is for Butane only and for indoors only as they have not tested it for use outdoors..

    With the heater exposed to low ambient temperature the Butane will have issues in the colder months as it will cease to flow at low temperature of -2 degrees C while Propane ( patio gas ) is good to -42 C. I know that the regulator fittings are different.

    I know that the normal working pressure is Butane is 28mbar and for Propane it is 37 mbar. They both burn at approx the same Temp of 1975 C but because the cylinder pressure of the Butane is approx 1/4 of Propane and the low Temp indoors would not be an issue it the recommended option for indoors and propane is the recommended option for outdoors on most appliances.

    So as neither the manufacturers or the gas suppliers will advise on the use of Propane on this unit "outdoors" , which is why I ask, is there anyone here that tried Propane on the Provence heater and and was successful or otherwise.>

    You can normally just switch between the two by using a different regulator. At least that's the case with BBQs.

    Any thoughts for the environment with this method of heating the sky?

    IIRC the patio heaters are banned across Europe, this product is just the same.
