I'm not justifying anything. I'm simply stating that 'the right' or 'conservatives', or whatever they call themselves, haven't a leg to stand on when it comes to pointing the finger at others when it comes to children's well being.

Well if the right dont stand up to the normalisation of paedophelia and child Sex exploitation Then nobody will because theres elements on the left/‘progressive’/‘open minded’ side that are increasingly reluctant to speak out against these things for fear of not being seen as on trend with these agendas.

You can say whatever you want about the right but theres nobody on this site or in a public sphere of the right who is excusing or normalising anything to do with children being sexualised or exploited, the same cannot be said for the left.

Where have you all been for the last 40 years. Sexualisation of children began at least that far back and was allowed to proceed (if not aided and abetted) by the very people that should have tried to stop it - their parents.

Anyone old enough think back to an 11y/o then and an 11y/o in 2020.

When I was young it was the Catholic Conservatives on the right that were on the side of the child abusers. Funny how much things change.

So who of the outraged here are going g to put their money where their mouths are and cancel their Netflix subscriptions?

    Otherwise they're just hypocrites.

Put up or shut up, as the saying goes.

And children in questionable roles isn't new. Eg Taxi Driver and Leon. I'd hope they have the correct safeguards in place which they are far more likely to have than the previous films.

    .

I believe it's a legal requirement, same as kids only allowed to work a certain number of hours.

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

You're not hinting that this ^^^ could possibly be the reason for all the outrage, are you?

Where on earth did you get that idea?

The film itself won awards, it was in public domain a long time without anyone having an issue with it, it was only getting praised. The issue is Netflix, they took an innocent film and photo shopped an image to promote it as something other that what is it. The poster was clearly made to look sexual as to attract a certain audience/viewer, that's messed up. Why would they go out of there way to promote it in such a way, why promote it to appeal to dirty old men?
Mignonnes is a 2020 French coming-of-age comedy-drama film. Netflix '' no NO we can't have that, Cuties , yes that's better, is a film about 11 year old strippers, promote it that way''
    WTF

It's a bit like if Netflix portrayed Little Miss Sunshine really weirdly tbh.

I don't think anyone at Netflix would have been thinking that, to be honest. More than likely, the image just wasn't vetted properly by those who needed to vet it before it went live.

As you say, it's a photoshopped image that I would reckon was rattled off quickly, probably to meet an unrealistic deadline to promote a French indie film that they thought nobody would be that interested in seeing.

I don't think there was much thought put into it at all.

The uptick for Netflix is that they're going to now get a lot of views for a film that otherwise would have gone unseen by an awful lot of people.

I am interested to know what is the development of the theme in the film. What is the conclusion, the denouement, what are the final scenes?

If the director is honestly exploring the hyper sexualisation of children what conclusion does the narrative arrive at? If the images in the posters are screenshots from actual content in the film do the children continue to wear those outfits through to the end and do dances which emphasize pelvic thrusting and kneel down or flex in stripper poses? Do they win the competitions by being those girls, or do they come to a more developed understanding of their essential nature that is not viewed through the lens of the pornification of their prepubescent bodies? Do they put on different clothing and do a more appropriate form of dancing for their age? Do they take up a different activity like martial arts or parkour (free running) or something else that does not fetishize their bodies?

Anyone know? You can cover the answer in spoiler black out. I don't mind spoilers. I often google the end of series when they are getting too tense for me. :o

Do you expect every movie you watch to end in a Happy Ever After scenario that aligns with your personal value system?

If so, you'd better not watch anything more challenging than a kid's fairy tale.

So the outrage definitely isn't manufactured by far right groups in the USA to kick back at Netflix for all the gay stuff and all the "strong woman 'filth that they keep releasing?

It really is Passion of St Tibulus all over again, except the outraged don't know where to stand with their Careful Now posters for this one.

The image in the OP is a fake created to make it appear like this is a pageant-style movie about dancing 11 year olds being sexy. It's not an image that Netflix has produced.

The "specialising in twerking routines" is also made up nonsense that has little to do with the film.

Look at the trailer and you'll see very little connection with the fake posters the OP has posted.

This an award-winning French film about a preteens immigrants difficulty aligning her home culture and home life with that around her. Examinig the early sexualisation of children is a theme in this movie.

Of course, American Nazi and religious types are losing their mind about it, while ignoring the fact that they are the biggest creators and consumers of actual child porn in the world.

49 have thanked this post already!
It starts off by saying the OPs image is a fake and 49 sheep are happy to thank it without a question.
    It’s a very disturbing photo.

What on earth is your difficulty with acknowledging people's concern here?

Taxi Driver is a film for adults that addresses the ugly reality of children being prostituted. And it's about a man who turns vigilante to save one such child.

    Absolutely bizarre.

No idea why you're so desperate for my approval or affirmation?

Yes, I'm well aware of what Taxi Driver is about. And I've read a couple of the summaries of this movie.

They both seem to be about getting children out of difficult situations. What's your problem with that?

If the conclusion is happy ever after for the twerking in skimpy outfits by 11 year olds then I think it is not a useful interrogation of the theme of hyper sexualisation of children. Because yes, my personal value system does not view such an occupation for children as positive or useful or a triumph over cultural values or a political statement etc. Maybe your personal value system would view such an occupation for children as being otherwise?

All this paedo stuff is disgusting and infuriating. Have we learned nothing from the decades of scandals here? And we all know that the blame for the rise of these degenerates and the increased instances that we see reported in the media lies purely with one grouping in society - those damn sexy kids.*

*joke stolen from either Jimmy Carr or Frankie Boyle. I can't remember which......but it is a joke and not meant to minimize anything so keep your knickers on....although it is relevant in the context here of people who might be blaming the portrayal of the kids themselves as some kind of cause of something

Hold on. You’re more outraged by people using certain phrases than then the actual subject matter here?

    Incredible.

As I said before your internet points seem to matter more than sexualising children. You’re a disgrace.

    Cool.

So you're not familiar with the bould Hermann's extensive efforts to undermine a victim of the Sisters of Charity when he was editor of the Irish Catholic then?

I recall Miley Cyrus at the MTV Music Awards in 2013, it was all over the news, ''OH THE HUMANITY'' , In today's world in 2020 it would not bat an eyelid. So yes the world is getting more and more desensitized every year.
You now have mainstream celebrities opening up Only Fans account, like Cardi B
    or Bella Thorne..
350?cb=20130207183954.... who went from Disney Channel to Only Fans

Or Beyonce singing about in only fans in lyrics.

You have Irish teenagers on Onlyfans making 50k a month shoving dildos up their ass, while their parents cheer them on.

    > like https://www.tiktok.com/@kneevo?lang=en Niamh O'Connor, Big on Tik Tok , huge under 15 following on tik tok, then she opened an only fans account, great example to all the kids following her on Tik Tok. All trying in vain to open their own Only Fans account to follow her example. All complaining how it's unfair that they can't open one,you have kids trying to open OnLY FANS accounts, wtf the world is going nuts.
I can imagine in another 5 years that not having an only fans account will be the same as not having an instagram account today.

Another example is Gabrielle Louise who loves to boast about her fancy cars and money, but has no class, when she poses in front of some dumped tyres.
    https://twitter.com/GabrielleLRob/status/1295406399145619457

These are tik tokers to Only fans, and they boast about all the money they make, and inspire the kids who did follow them to aspire to be like them.

Anything can become normalized when the masses are doing it.

Or if you repeatedly do it, like Putin ,tries to assassinate another critic ..... worlds response ....

'' that's Putin for ya, the rascal ''

Normal now, he kills who he wants, and it's fine, as it's normal for him. Doesn't bat an eye lid.

Jayziz. That's me educated. Those Twitter and Tik Tok accounts. PS I hope there are no parents cheering on their daughters doing what you said.

Is Only Fans some kind of cam sex site?

Feel like I just found another planet.

We always had attention whores (emphasis on whores) willing to show a bit of flesh for cheers , now with social media its become easier to reach a wide audience. The issue is its become monetised and normalised to the point where it used to be a tiny tiny minority of vulgar people but now normal teenage girls are seeing this and believe its acceptable in society. Which is a disgusting path for society to go down.

There was one who did an interview with i think it was the mirror, said her whole family were really supportive and even her dad congratulated her, turns out none of the family knew and have basically disowned her since the article (not unreasonable in my book)

What I want to know is what these gorls plan to do beyond 30, spme might get lucky in the looks department but many wont, and certainly wont be pulling 25k a week for it

    Anything can become normalized when...

.. there's money to be made from it, it's almost like a sort of sub-culture at this stage, a sub-culture supplanting traditional values. Heck you might even describe it as 'Cultural Capitalism destroying Western Civilisation'.

    See what I did there?

This is a weird point at which id agree with you, a few years ago somebody said to me that you couldnt have unfettered capitalism because eventually youd have child sex slaves being sold, I didnt believe for one second that morality could ever stoop that far. Seeing what teenage girls are encouraging younger teenage girls to to even in Ireland now , im not sure morality could survive that lack of restriction.

As someone said before, progressives often lament that the Capitalists are using their identities and lifestyles (lgbt, trans, identity politics, blm, marxism etc) to sell their products

No, these lifestyles and identities are the products they are selling.

The Marxism so many progressives believe in is a carrot on a stick...capitalism is behind it all.
Marxism has essentially been co opted and absorbed by Capitalism. Its just another product.
