I see it being reported that Edwards met with the Greeks at the Wolves game on Thursday I wonder did he have a chat with Wolves about any of there players while he was there.

Well, you should never buy a left back from a relegated side, it never works out.

I read that quickly and missed the "the thread" words!

Was scratching my head wondering who the player was.

That said, you'd imagine he'll probably get a move elsewhere regardless, and he'll be able to look forward to actually getting consistent game time.

Mane and Salah are such forces of nature, I'm pretty phlegmatic about whoever comes in as backup along the flanks.

I think they basically need to not be walking disaster areas like Moreno was for much of his time here, and so long as that happens, we'll be alright.

As important as Trent and Robbo are, you'd imagine you could plan better around a solid full back who doesn't make lots of mistakes but isn't particularly talented in attack, rather than someone who is more progressive, but also tends to drop a bollock.

Particularly if with get Thiago, but even just with Henderson and Naby, we have other players on the pitch who can support and overlap on the wings if Robbo and Trent aren't around.

Not based on anything but maybe Lewis will end up at Leicester now instead. Still a big jump for him and playing PL & European football, and probably more regularly too.

Having watched the Konstantinos highlight reel I will be gutted if we only end up with Lewis now!! Looks a prospect

Thiago was such a joy to watch last night, he makes things looks so effortless & glides around the pitch with such elegance.

I was already excited that we're linked to him from what I'd seen of him before but having watched him live for the first time since we've been linked to him I am really fcuking excited.

    such a baller!

Strange there saying we only bid 10 million for Lewis if he was our first pick and now paying 13 million for out second pick surely that doesn't make sense?

Let me tell you a story young man. Way back in time, when Liverpool had recently won their 5th European Cup followed by an FA cup, there was a man by the name of Harry Kewell. He had a youtube highlights reel. That is all...............

The Liverpool terms for the Norwich deal included a sell on clause, maybe they were getting stuck on that point and perhaps Olympiacos/Liverpool dealings didn't have any interest in that angle at all so just made the whole thing more straightforward.

Anyway that Welcome to Liverpool video in full

Where's Ricero to complain about us being cheapskates and only spending 11.75m on a backup full-back when we could have been getting premiership proven backup for 20m? Bloody FSG!!!

And another award... best FA Cup goal of 2019/20 goes to Curtis Jones for that goal against Everton.

Great to have that sorted early.

Very interesting to see it played out with use of the typical journalists. Looks like they were fed info, which goes against recent transfer policy.

I wonder if it's a primer for future moves, to let teams know they'll move on quickly. Could lead to players kicking up more of a fuss once the bid comes in.

Let's see what happens with the likes of Thiago as well, who would be a dream of a signing tbh. Albeit a luxury rather than a need.

Probably discover that the use of media is now subject to deep level analytics.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 16,602 ✭✭✭✭Fitz*

Yeah I have decided that Liverpool did that transfer so publicly on purpose.

They have shown now that they won't pay over the odds and will change target with no hesitation.

I think it could be this. Klopp made a remark a while back about how they would pull out all the stops to sign the number 1 target and not settle for less when we missed out on Van Dijk. I've no doubt selling clubs would have remembered this approach when negotiating with us.

I think the Lewis bid was leaked to put pressure on Olympiacos

I can see Tsimikas being the 1st choice just seems more impressive than Lewis after very good performances in the CL & EL.

Edwards was meeting Olympiacos officials thursday a day after the Lewis stuff was leaked

I'm not a fan of that type of strategy if that's the case, leaking stuff on a player we've no intention of signing and end up unsettling him.
