Very similar but Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur gets my vote for the fish.

Valencia - prefer the blue bit at the side to the weird fish thingy

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 10,969 ✭✭✭✭alchemist33

Don't like either much, but hate the fish. Valencia for me

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur for the crazy dolphin

    Valencia

    It's neither fish nor fowl.

    Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

I like the crazy dolphin and the eagle-dragon thingy. Also I prefer the vertical stripes to the horizontal ones of Valencia's, which I find a bit overpowering.

    Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur

    Dolphin dragon fish :D

Valencia coz the blue bit is nicer than the design on the other one

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur, fish ftw (or dolphin or whatever it is)

Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur were leading at the time expiration so it's they who progress through.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,714 ✭✭✭Sawduck

Valencia better design the other one is basically 3 flags tied into one, I do like the fish though

It's time for Round 3 folks. As before, it's a 5 vote quota or best within 30 minutes. First match is ready right now...

I've voted for both of these already in previous rounds - but I'm going with Veneto here. Elaborate biblical lion angel thing holding a book is better than four colours (instead of the usual three)

Humm a pleasantish wine over an angel-lion.

    OK, the wine La Rioja

Actually, you can't quite see the greatness of the Veneto flag from that picture.

The seven bands on the right are actually kind of tassels -

Edit - actually, that's the flag of Venice, sorry! Veneto's tails aren't separated for some reason. That might cost it in a future round.

    La rioja.

The other one reminds me of the computer game Columns from the 1990s, but not in a good way.

Veneto, for the funny-looking lion, griffon-thing.

Right it's a 2-2 draw (Badly Drunk Boy's shout came in after the buzzer) so let's get to the reasons.

    Very good description. 1-0

Just about cuts it :p 1-1

    No reason. Stays at 1-1

    That'll do it, 2-1.

La Rioja advances to the quarter final.

    Bavaria. Pega-sus has to Pega-stop!

(I'm hurt by my vote being excluded from the last vote at the last minute, but I'll survive...)

Dammit.......too late to save Veneto......Major sulk from me :(

Tuscany. The horse is a welcome change from lions, fleurs de lis and stupid squares on the German ones.

The Pegasus image on the flag derives from a coin made by the Florentine artist Benvenuto Cellini in 1537. The the Pegasus came to be associated as a symbol of the Tuscan region.

The usage of Pegasus by the Tuscan region endured and was adopted by the Tuscan Committee of National Liberation (CTLN) as a symbol of Italian resistance in Tuscany to the German occupation of Italy during the Second World War.

    I love it.
