If someone told you they'd give you 300 a week to not work (for months) because you (99.9%) would get a mild flu that lasts a few days you'd laugh at them. That's not a good policy.

    €350

And that’s half the problem here. A lot of people are quite happy sitting at home getting that plus their other perks. The money won’t last forever. They might realise that in a years time when they stop the payment, they leave their house and their town is gone. All that remains is Tesco and the local bookies.

What lockdown. We've come out of a lockdown hence the virus gathers pace.

    Keep up.

My point exactly - lockdown was just a can-kicking exercise - no use whatsoever. Doesn't matter if we stay locked down for 2 weeks or 2 years - other than the 10's of billions we'll spend in scenario 2.

    Keep up.

I’ve been saying it for 5 months.

It’s a waste of time for you and me to type here, you’re up against 5 months of RTE indoctrination.

Pretty much. Anyone that dares question the sanctity of lockdown is a tin foil hatter etc. It’s a waste of time as evidenced by its very repetition. Rinse and repeat

It’s hard get them onto this page. Panic led nuclear option. I predicted this would happen after the last lockdown briefly ended. And will go on again too

Which illustrates the point exactly- lockdown is a useless pointless strategy.

Well I don't know if I'd fully agree with you guys on lock down. When the pandemic hit and no body really knew what we were all dealing with it did seem like the only thing to do and I wouldn't begrudge anybody the €350 per week, though personally I worked hard right through it, though safely from home.

But at this point the hysteria is becoming very tedious. I had a quick peek earlier after today's high numbers and somebody was already screaming hysterically for a lock down. Though everybody knows exactly what's causing the spike. And nothing whatsoever to do with travel.

I'm just worried about the months ahead and what more freedoms they'll take from us in the hysterical name of this pandemic which really affects so few. And how it will impact on our travel rights. Like a sharp temporary lock down, nobody minded no travel for a while. But how long will this whole thing be dragged out for? Life is short. There are people around who can't count on next year or the year after, they need to live their precious lives now.

Everything we do is a can kicking exercise until there's a vaccine. That's the plan. It's the same plan everywhere. It may involvle a return to full lockdown, we were told this at the beginning.

Do you have a better plan? Id love to hear it.

Well done. Good to see a few more wake up to the pointlessness of Lockdown. Life is indeed short as will the money pot once this drags like you say.

Yeah I’ve just stopped responding to it. You can present the facts and let people decide for themselves. You can list your reasons for being against a lockdown, break down your argument but replies will be “lol tindfoil hat”.

Absolute waste of time. It’s brainwashing by state and media. By the time these people will wake up the country will be a wasteland.

I’ll leave ye all off to get this magical vaccine so. I don’t need one if ye all take the jab. Thanks for being the guinea pigs.

Its seems the Danes which have one of the lowest deaths due to covid in the world have said masks are of no benefit. The Dutch,Swedes and Finnish agree too.

Irish people have this weird fixation on physical things like this- a kind of a crutch they can hold and reassurance they're "doing something". I wear one in shops etc- not because I believe it serves any actual health purpose- it's just easier go along with it. Like every other fad they'll die off eventually.

They won't be happy until we have an Italy type scenario.

From a medical point of view, there is no evidence of a medical effect of wearing face masks, so we decided not to impose a national obligation," said Medical Care Minister Tamara van Ark.

With numbers diminishing very quickly in Sweden, we see no point in wearing a face mask in Sweden, not even on public transport,” said Anders Tegnell, Sweden’s top infectious disease expert.

Threads gone full Trump. All the experts are wrong, masks are useless.

All these countries recommending face masks haven’t made their decisions based on new studies,” said Henning Bundgaard, chief physician at Denmark’s Rigshospitale, according to Bloomberg News.

You're not going to provide something from a Danish source?
She's Dutch. And they're mandatory on public transport in the Netherlands.

You're either making this stuff up yourself, it reading some truly awful sources.

That's one idiot physician at a Danish hospital.

From just scanning boards the odd time, to mainly living in the real world , it just reflects the complete divisions now in society - the over-fearful terrified against those that belive ther has been a terrible China/WHO driven world over-reaction - ther seams nothing in the middle / or any balanced media anaysis of investigating other ways to live with the virus, apart from lockdown - doom and gloom and Fear- I believe soon ther be physical fights in shops for not mask wearing or the skipping ques in bad weather - A friend of mine believed she had a heart attack , but she is too terrified to go hospital to get it checked out cause of Covid anxiety- I would guess the death rate from a heart attack is about 30% whilst Covid death rate is around .3% - I know so many struggling with mental illness driven by Covid aniety - The impact this will have on the younger generation will be so severe - What a dreadful place it has all become.
