Just ignore him. I've ignored Penfailed months ago, best decision I've ever made. I remember he thought Tyrone was in our country....... that was brilliant.

I figured you'd either put me on ignore or were just scrolling past. Yet again, you're twisting the truth. It's hardly worth the effort to correct you if you are not going to engage...but here goes - you said that there were no deaths in meat factories in Ireland. I simply stated that there was a death in a meat factory in the north. I wasn't trying to say that Tyrone was in the Republic. It's another one of your diversionary tactics.

What do you mean wanted? You think that because Gibraltar and SanMarino were removed from greenlist yesterday my holiday plans are in disarray?

I am going. Going to 2 destinations actually, and dont worry none of them are on the greenlist. 1 of them is close to a greenlist country though, does that count as "safer"?

Ah, and here was me thinking you were on one of your multiple holidays last week when you were absolutely silent on the increase in numbers.

The transformation into a regimented, politically manipulated anti-society, awash in scare stories and propaganda, isn't justifiable off the back of a respiratory illness or other pretexts, like CO2 levels.

That we're averaging 0 or 1 deaths a day, and a handful of clusters in food factories and direct provision centres, and Stephen Donnelly is talking about another lockdown just goes to show that flattening the curve is one card out of a deck of 52; and shutting down the country partially or fully can now be achieved for any purpose since people will get angry at anyone who questions or notices the utter absurdity of it.

Don`t try and feign ignorance about what my point was. I called out G&S for his refusal to stay at home and support Irish hotel/B&Bs while constantly ranting for months about the authorities not opening up the economy quickly enough. While I`m at it as someone who is constantly banging the same drum yourself do you support his actions doing that?

The economy here is not open. And the climate is terrible. So staying here is far from ideal. Especially for younger people that wouldn’t be too interested in parks, scenery etc.

If everything was open, at least to some extent, more people might stay this year.

The 60K excess deaths in the UK are due to what? Heart disease, climate change, some other factors. I am curious what explanation is offered.

Idk but below is pretty interesting, total deaths for 2020 will sure be very closely looked at

The number of deaths registered in England and Wales in the week ending 24 July 2020 (Week 30) was 8,891; this was 68 more deaths than in Week 29.

In Week 30, the number of deaths registered was 1.8% below the five-year average (161 deaths fewer); this is the sixth consecutive week that deaths have been below the five-year average

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/birthsdeathsandmarriages/deaths/bulletins/deathsregisteredweeklyinenglandandwalesprovisional/latest

Let me get this right, UK are reporting deaths that are less than 5 year average per week, for 6 weeks in a row? (so since mid June)

That doesnt bode well with the deadly covid agenda? Not to mention their shenanigans of counting covid deaths of people who die in road crashes but who tested positive for covid few months earlier.

Do I take all that to mean you do support G&S in not supporting Irish holiday businesses then?

Do you really think Ryanair stewards walk around and hurry people to finish eating? Pack of crisps for 1.5 hour flight sounds reasonable. Maybe a coke too.

John, smart people always find a way. Remember that.

And the above is supposed to be an example of your "smartness"? Jesus wept.

There is going to be some amount of spin on the jobless totals in the coming months. Not only pubs but a lot of other leisure industries are eventually going to start dropping like flies as their reserves run out, but no doubt those jobs lost will be labelled as some sort of covid scheme rather than included in the overall jobless totals.

I suspect all the smug ****s sitting at home preening about flattening the curve will go strangely quiet when the cold reality of recession really starts to hit home.

Of course, our economy is not open yet.
When it is, then you can support it.

But it seems like it might not open again anytime soon.

    Things are escalating quickly

Coronavirus: Arsenal propose 55 redundancies amid financial struggles

Head of football Raul Sanllehi and managing director Vinai Venkatesham said one of the key reasons cutbacks are being made is to "maintain investment in the team"

    https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/12043014/coronavirus-arsenal-propose-55-redundancies-amid-financial-struggles

Not Ireland related. But will Irish football clubs cut jobs? They will. They likely have already. Where is that indeed job analyst telling people to retrain?

I have never in my life seen such twisting and turning.

Sweden has been accused of experimenting causing a high loss of life, and many posters have shed online tears highlighting the plight of the Swedes who were abondoned by their government.

You post is an example of what happens when people are spectacularly incorrect about something, so they most try and reallign their view's.

You are bitching and moaning about why we cant be like Sweden now, well today we are. I get it, you didn't want the lockdown, but by and large, today, our changes in how we live are very like Sweden. What is your issue then?

Are you required to order £9 worth of food in the north?
Are there limits on the time you can stay?

THere are no limits on time here either - provided you are 2m from the next table

    Yes.

Do you know Penfailed by any chance? Your writing very much resembles his, great grammar, full stops, complete lack of emojis....obsession with calling people out.. You also have very few posts but you seem to be eager to call people out. This is getting very suspicious.

Listen, i ll ignore you. When in doubt better safe than sorry. Good luck

yes, it is a common misconception, even among some journalists, that there is a 105 minute time limit imposed on pubs that maintain a 2m social distance.

The rate of unemployment in Ireland fell to 16.7% last month, according to new figures released by the Central Statistics office (CSO) today.

    https://www.irishexaminer.com/news/arid-40027559.html

30,000 pub staff are only ones along with some gig economy workers not allowed to operate currently.

    16.7%.

    16.7%. That is shocking.

The Covid-19 adjusted measure of unemployment also indicated a rate of 41.2% for those aged between 15 and 24 years, and 13.7% for those aged between 25 and 74 years.

We are worried about schools? Do we have jobs for leaving cert students who dont go to college? Do we have jobs for graduates from college?

Only in June the best estimate was that we would be at 16% by the end of the year. Looks like we got there by August.

I know that most of the country pubs up north have just put up a big canopy like structure in the back Garden/Car park to get around it.
Most wet pubs are open up there and booming too.

That in bold doesnt seem to be correct, unless sarcasm?

Sweden does not have mandatory face nappies.
Sweden does not shut down businesses under govt's direction, for 2months, 3 months, 6 months +.
Sweden did not and does not have 28% unemployment for April, 26% May, 23% June, 16.7% July.

And most importantly, Sweden does not worry about 2nd waves or reopening schools or any of that pathetic carry on.

Also, pretty important, Sweden did not have 1,600 citizens developing cancer during March > June due to cancelled early prevention treatment/screening.

Damn. As I write all of this I am getting even more impressed. Its amazing how different things are when you have 1 govt who tells you to behave otherwise pubs wont reopen and have some cop on and other govt with actual brain power.

Which cancer would that be and how do you know if they weren't tested? A credible link would be good.

    The 1,600 are pre-cancers.

A personal experience. I took Dr. Holohan's advice and contacted my GP regarding a skin issue. He referred me to a specialist for investigations regarding a possible skin cancer. That was over two months ago and the specialist has yet to begin seeing new patients.

I also know that the bowel screening programme has not yet returned for new patients. Then there is breast check, cervical smears, etc.

You have always been very quick to jump to the defence of the HSE/Government on this issue. Is there a particular reason as to why that is?
