Yeah I have a shiny stainless bearing cover on it now, it took a lot more persuasion than I expected to get it on. I think that photo is two years old now.

I'm thinking if getting a dumper for a self build. I have about a week of work with a lad with his own digger, and then about a month in and off with my own mini digger.
It might be better to buy than lease at about 500 p w. For a 6 tom machine.
Any thoughts on this?
A 3 ton would be cheaper both ways, bud I'd be drawing all day with a 13t track machine loading the gravel bank into it.

Any particular engines to
watch out for?

Would you get a dump trailer hired in handier, assuming you have your own tractor? Two lads around here with him normally lads just call and work em themselves

Any hope of using a tractor and dump trailer? That'd be your cheapest option if the site was at all suitable.

The old 6 tonne benford dumpers were a decent machine. 4x4, Perkins engine and shuttle box with 4 speeds. Terex bought them out about 10 or 15 years ago.

Engine wise the common issues on a lot of dumpers is the headgasket normally caused by the absolute lack of maintenance they receive.

I've a 996 but it's half apart for restoring.
If I hired in a trailer tractor and driver it would prob work out more per week than the dumper.

Get a 9 tonne one if you can, makes all the difference to the amount of clay shifted.
You should be able to get one for 6 weeks at a far better rate than hiring for a few days.

Collected the bale handler on Saturday. Very happy with the build quality. Check valve to be added today. I needed to use it Saturday to stack a handful of bales so took it without the valve been fitted. So far impressed, but only stacked 20 bales so far!

Yeah rollers. It will roll down between bales on a trailer/stack to grab them. Not 100% sure of the logic but I guess it aides with tearing.

Going the finest. The odd error code but nothing major. Turn off/on clears it. Heading for the 1k hours now

No harm getting the error codes checked out. Take note of the codes number and get paddy to check them off. A simple error code can grow into a snag. I know from experience

Lads has anyone gotten a dribble bar retro-fitted to a tanker through TAMS? Any rough idea as to what you'd end up paying? Seems to be plenty clean tankers for sale at value.

What's approx cost to dry hire a 10 t track machine for a week? Self drive. Not sure if I'd go with it, as a machine with driver will cover a lot more in the same time.

350- 500 depending were you hire

Would you not rally up a few friends and hire 2 dumpers and a digger .

I can keep 2 x 6 ton dumpers going with my 3ton digger on a short enough draw once the digger is slightly higher and material loose

Is it possible to get half of a 21 spline pto drive and slot it into a pto with 6 spline at machine end instead of having to use on of these converters on the tractor's pto shaft?

Only 21 spline pto I saw had a star shape shaft compared to a normal triangle type. Or could I just change the pto outer yoke?

Paid 500 plus vat recently for an 8t, if you get a digger/dumped make sure and get someone to drive dumper. You'd be surprised at the extra progress you'd make not jumping from one to the other.

Farm where I'm at had a Massey combine out on demo yesterday, would put up a pic if I was anyway half tech savvy, serious bit of kit with a 12mtr header and 650hp apparently, just a pity the air con had already quit!!

Iirc, she has hydrostatic drive on her so I wouldn't be taking her to an out farm. I think there's a danger of overheating on those and they wouldn't be capable of going very fast, so I'm told.

Yeah they will only do 20k but can be towed behind a jeep. I have a demo booked in for this winter I've a very narrow passageway here 9'9" and I reckon that's the narrowest machine out there.

I was looking to buy an item at an auction that happens monthly and is advertised on DoneDeal. Went and looked at item, headed home and bid online. Was the underbidder, ended up getting identical item 20% cheaper elsewhere.

You can always set a reserve with auctioneer. There are very few bargains at some auctions.

I keep a regular eye on one popular monthly auction. The prices that end up being paid are usually similar to asking prices you'd see on DoneDeal, I haven't seen many lads making great savings.
