It was a bit of a patchy series all in all..

.. if you think that one was bad, the
    debs one
    is truly painful!

I actually like it. Not quite up to the peak of Killinaskully at its peak but not far short.

Unforgiveable really, clearly had money thrown at everything but the writers, who just went with cliche after cliche and jokes that have been done before. Cliches can be funny fodder if you do something different with them. This didn't.
    Disappointed not to enjoy it.

Same, enjoyed it for the most part. A few laugh out loud moments in the 5th episode

I liked the first series....the second series was ok...I have seen the first 3 episodes of season 3.
It is poor...very very few laughs.
Hilary Rose is actually a really good actress, but some of the rest are poor

I honestly don't see how anyone can compare this to Derry girls it's not in the same league.

I don't see how they could be compared anyway. Two completely different shows.

Two Irish comedies both set in provincial Irish towns on at the same time are going to be compared to each other.

Anyway, not that Derry Girls is perfect or anything, but compared to TYO, It's Seinfeld and the former is Upwardly Mobile. The writing is in a different league.

"Provincial towns"? They're both cities, lad.

Cork and Derry are the second largest cities in respectively ROI and NI. Hardly provincial towns.

Other than that I agree with your post

If it's not the capital, then its provincial. I'd call them big towns and I've lived in Cork City most of my life.

Cork is the capital of PR Cork.

    I have to agree

Surely Healy could see it was Jock and Connor as he was so close behind

    It's just not funny.
They take a 2 minute plot idea and drag it out for 30 mins.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 12,995 ✭✭✭✭castletownman

I think the lack of intelligence of the two of them has become a parody at this stage.

Standing beside the door trying to talk to each other with Healy at the other side, and them not realising the space they had to work in until Mairead pointed it out, was amateur and pretty much dragged out over half the episode.

The overuse of foul language does not a comedy make either.

It being made locally isn't enough to watch this anymore. It's almost unbelievable how bad the writing is.

I liked it. Probably could do with a few new characters though.

I liked it too. Sometimes I think people want to be watching something other than it is.

To be honest every second word is F this and F that , too crude for my liking .
John Cleese , Brendan grace , Dermot morgan were funny without having to resort to cursing non stop

I stopped watching it after that Christmas “special “. It was absolute rubbish. The first series was definitely funny but they’re flogging it to death at this stage.

I find it strange the amount of people saying they watched it and giving poor reviews here, if I don’t like something I don’t watch it, I watched it over two nights and had a few laughs
I am not sure what people are expecting from this tbh it’s a light hearted situation comedy with the characters taking the pi55 out of themselves and each other - it’s not meant to be Shakespeare

Well how are you supposed to know if you like something or not unless you watch it?

I watched it and found it unfunny. The story line and they way they acted it out was almost cringe.

I haven't seen the film or previous seasons.
Someone else in the house put on ep 2 the other night.
I was half watching it while searching the internet for a used car.
As a comedy I thought it was fairly weak, dragged out and unfunny.
I said something like "is this supposed to be funny? Its $hite!"
The person watching it (who has watched all the seasons) muttered something about it "not being as funny as it used to be..."

The series improves from ep3 I think , recreational drugs made an appearance which I thought was lacking so far

I watched the first two episodes of season 3 on Player and really enjoyed both.

The criticism here is completely ott. Granted the series has its flaws and most of season 2 was poor but the Conor, Jock and Billy characters are really funny in their oafishness and stereotypical Cork accents. And maybe some sketches lack originality and maybe there's a bit too much bad language but so what if it makes people laugh!

Do people not need a laugh in these glum times? I sure do and it did just that. So looking forward to the next episode! :D
