Saddle Question

Just wondering if it is possible to put a modern day road saddle on an old style seat post? This is about replacing the saddle on a Spin bike used for indoor training. Current saddle and seat post is old style and wondering if I could switch in a modern style saddle instead.

Not to sound like a smartarse, but it really depends on the seatpost and saddle.

Can you take a photo of the seatpost sans saddle, and link to the new saddle you'd like to get

I assume it's one of this things you're talking about that goes onto the old seat post without integrated clamp.

If that's the case, I'd imagine newer saddle rails should fit in that clamp.

Just measure the distance between the two clamps to be sure

if it's a standard size seatpost, might be just as easy to replace it?

Unfortunately the spin bike does not have standard seat post, but the post takes an old style saddle. The fixture that connects the saddle to the post is like that in the photo in the post from iwillthfu. So if the rails on a modern saddle will fit in the old fitting I will be sorted.
