How to break up a plastic storage box?

    I have a cracked and manky plastic storage box that is too big to fit in a wheelie bin so I need to break it up.

    I’ve tried cutting it with a saw but the saw broke and it was taking forever anyway.

    I’ve tried jumping on it but won’t give.

    I’ve tried a hammer.

    Has anyone got ideas?

    It is a Wham box I think.

    Put it in the ground below a first floor window. Jump out the first floor window so you land on it.

    Bury it in the garden.

    Take a saw normally used to cut timber
    would go great
    plumbers doing the same with waste pipe

    I haven't found a plastic item yet that wouldn't yield to a sharp handsaw or a ball pein hammer!

    I still have the flipping thing.

    Got no no-where with a hammer. Sawing takes forever and I honestly never get the time. I still haven't even sawed it enough that it will break.

    I'm getting a loan of a blow torch. I know there are other ways to dispose of it like recycling centres but I'm putting this flipper in the wheelie in :P

    Crazy idea but leave it beside or on top of the bin?

    AES guys won’t take it.

    Has to be in the bin or in a cardboard box as extra recycling m. And I’m pretty sure it exceeds the size of what you leave

    All the one anyway. I left the box outside and someone stole it :p

    Give it to a five year old and tell them not to touch it..


    Failing that, Aldi had/have a circular saw for €14. Very handy to have anyway, and that will definitely break it up. Or drill a line of holes.

    So much for my opinion that the lockdown and such had made the people better... thank goodness I was wrong!!!

    It wouldn't be classed as recycling anyway, you should have left it out with the waste bin.
