Maybe you can see why Leo was sending all the wrong signals racing to the park having cans when restrictions were much tighter.

O'Neill was wrong too to be involved in selfies and sending the wrong signals as a leader.
I disagree with your 1st sentence
He didn't have to race to the park, Farmleigh is in it
    His group was permitted
We never got to see what was in the cans

I agree with your 2nd sentence

We get you guys don't agree. There's a name for it...hypocrisy. Call out one but not the other..these threads are full of people doing that.

Unfortunately my view of your use of the hypocrisy word is up there with your use of the lie word in my humble opinion
But then one would hardly expect a dyed in the wool Sinn Fein supporter to agree there either
We could too and fro on it this evening into the usual deadlock if you wish but charity begins at home and honestly I've zero intention of interrupting my dinner and few pints, it may wait the turning of my attention towards company at the table not the phone
Alternatively I'm amicably agreeing to disagree
    Have a lovely evening.

    All of this:
Basic lesson in civics: when you want to know what people want you count votes. SF never got a mandate at the ballot box while the IRA were killing people. Now I know that the level SF/IRA's enthusiasm for the ballot box is in direct ratio to the level of their performance at elections. I remember expressions of utter contempt for the people's verdict when it wasn't favourable to them.
Sure the few who did get elected during the bombing and shooting only got the nod because the voters knew they weren't in the IRA, like Gerry for instance.

God, do I remember that old shibboleth! When we southerners opened our mouths we were told we knew nothing about it. When we said nothing we were told we didn't care.
We were supposed to sit silently and answer yes sir, no sir.
Did Hume and Mallon know anything about it? Are you saying the people didn't want them? You need to brush up on your sums.

Considering none iof it has any relevance to the reality that the IRA were supported by sizeable communities all over the north. especially when you say things like 'we were told we knew nothing about it' when certainly the poster I was replying to seems to have no idea. Theres reasons SF werent a political force at that time (read your history)

Why are you replying to my post with irrelevant waffle? thats what I was wondering.

    "an operational decision"
The Cemetery staff decided that they would prefer to have their kneecaps left intact

Where did RTÉ get the following information which would have been a put out for bereaved families because it certainly doesn't read like a nothing to see here situation
His family was the only one allowed to hold a service that day. Eight other families who had loved ones cremated were not allowed to hold services.

Belfast City Council, which runs the crematorium, has apologised to those families.

You decide, this is pretty close to what we learned about a 'lie' in school, it was a long time ago, could have changed.

    noun
a false statement made with deliberate intent to deceive; an intentional untruth; a falsehood.
something intended or serving to convey a false impression; imposture:
His flashy car was a lie that deceived no one.
an inaccurate or false statement; a falsehood.

Mod: FrancieBrady - you're coming dangerously close to trolling to get a response here. Argue the post, not the poster.

Well I’m a member - you don’t see me looking to bash the Greens/Labour etc. because they haven’t been in the news 😂

They’re definitely the most talked about/popular party on this site.

What is it with people’s obsession with SF on Boards..

They are a shadowy and slightly sinister party who take their orders from men of the ilk of Adams and Storey. They celebrate the murderers of Gardaí. They admire diesel smugglers. They cover up sexual abuse within their own party, and use their online army to denigrate and cast aspersions on victims like Cahill.

They promise new politics when all their spouting is the worst sort of populist rhetoric.

They are not a normal party. That appeals to a certain type of person, but it’s an affront to those of us who happen to think Ireland is a nice place to live, and a huge success story overall.

Most towns in Ireland are kips, the city centre in Dublin is a knacker fest with drug dealing and drug taking happening on our most iconic street 24 hours a day. Like every other country, it has nice places but it also has its fair share of kips.
Record Housing Crisis, Rents out of control, Hospitals A & E Crsis at an all time high, all time high waiting for medical procedures.

People voted for other parties bar FF and FG for this reason and plenty more not because you think SF supporters are all a certain type of person. All types of people voted them.

What is it with people’s obsession with SF on Boards..

They are the only strong viable option to FF/FG at the moment.
They also have the IRA connection which will do in a pinch when FF/FG are criticised about present day political shenanigans.
So you'll see an awful lot of unrelated references to the 'RA in conversations ranging from the FF TD who covered for his pedophile cousin, to the FF Ceann Comhairle who wrote a reference letter for a pedophile, the two FG'ers who flouted Covid restrictions to see MM inaugurated, the Cowen drunk driving story, Varadkar choosing lines from movies for a fun inside joke and a bet when talking about Covid deaths.
Like you might be talking about the FG minister Heather Humphries who wrote a letter to have charges of animal cruelty dropped against a man who was/is banned from having animals in the first place and someone might bring up Dessie Ellis or the Storey funeral and lack of social distancing. Which was poor form IMO, like that garda funeral.
You'll also see many hateful references like 'no normal person' would support or 'appeal to a certain type of person'. Basically it seems to be okay on Boards to denigrate people because they didn't vote Fine Gael. So they have at it willy nilly.

That's a tough one. It means everyday people preferred SF to FG/FF and they can't handle that so they resort to bitterness.

These repeated propaganda and insults aimed at anyone threw SF a vote. It shouldn't be allowed IMO. It's an insult to people for not voting a certain way.
You think this is acceptable discussion?

It's his opinion, he is entitled to it.
I've, seen the online, stuff some SF supporters put up about sheep for instance, not my Taoiseach, personal stuff about Leo, Michael and Éamon, the three stooges pics and other stuff put up by known SF supporters to me.
Lets face it social media is a general cess pit for abusive terms.
It's not unique to any party by any means but on my feeds at least SF supporters are by far the worst.

    And that's my opinion.
It's beyond party politics IMO. I think a party and it's politicians are fair game as long as it's about their politics or issues in the public interest. That includes the IRA, have at it.
See my impression is it's mainly by far FG supporters. Anyway, I think insulting people because you don't like the party they may or may not support is pretty low quality discussion, desperate and bitter IMO.
