Sure you can't guarantee any car will run flawlessly, but there are plenty of parts available for them.

I went from a 93 to a c220 and would swap back in a heartbeat. C220 is quicker and is auto compared to manual in the 93 but the 93 was so much more comfortable, it had so much more space, and in 3 years of ownership the only issue I had was the steering rack which is apparently an issue with them, and €250 odd set that right. My next car will either be a year or two old mid range saloon or a 93/95. Absolutely love Saabs and the later models, I think 08 onwards, are really nice.

If it’s as clean as described you would be a happy camper.

I was tempted myself to go for it, but I back out as I really don’t need another Saab anymore!

Not bangeromics but for that price it about right if clean - and boy does it look clean €200 road tax is mental considering the power and the kit you get

    Holy Jaysus enough SAABs.

Not saying it'll be the case on that A4, with its 7 owners, but from experience I've found terrible ads like that to always yield gems.

    100% agree.
I've picked up some lovely cars from rubbish adverts.
The initial conversation on the phone is generally where I make my decision. Doesn't take long to establish if a seller is genuine.

perfect example of a **** ad with a genuine seller, bonus points for getting her son to write the description

nearly identical to the ad I bought my superb from a couple years ago

Off the road two years, new engine just fitted, €600 sale price sounds more than the new engine should cost, no NCT, no outside pictures. What tyres are on it? Who would even view a car like that?

    That is not bangernomics.

How much is the newly fitted engine worth? Was the NCT failed or just not put forward? I would think this is at best a fixerupper, or should be parted.

that'll end up being a typo and it's parked up last 2 months and new engine oil fitted. Not even joking, don't under estimate the **** ads on donedeal

Is a bit more than 2k and maybe overpriced but I am tempted to drive one of this 1.8 vtec civic...one claimed owner and low mileage

I think colm_mcm had one of those for six years and said they were a fine car he only changed due to upgrading to a estate.

They are good, mpg is good too but it's a 2007 so on old tax..
Worth under €2k to be honest.

    Audi A3 2.0TDI DSG €1650

If it wasn't for the high tax i would have had a look at it.

They normally go for half that.

Now, it’s probably in great condition, and they’re unbelievably well built.
    It’s still value IMO.

Nice looking petrol C30 R deign, NCT til March 2021, €1800

    Cheap(ish) tax at €570 p/a too.

2010 Mk2 Punto with a years test and a bit of tax for €1100

Its left hand drive so probably not really a sensible bangernomics choice, I'm only posting it for the curiosity factor. Never realised these were made so late

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,429 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

The Grande Punto came out in 2005!

Interestingly, that’s actually registered as a Grande Punto.

Same idea as the Clio Campus and Octavia Tour, they still sold the Mk2 Punto abroad til end of 2010 as a budget alternative to the new model.

  • Registered Users Posts: 12,074 ✭✭✭✭Duke O Smiley

I think the last of the Mk2 were sold here in 07? (Punto Active Sound)

I'd imagine the above came from somewhere further east

  • Registered Users Posts: 73,429 ✭✭✭✭colm_mcm

Yeah, they had one that looked like a Sporting but wasn’t..

I went to see this today. My brother had spotted the ad, shortly before you posted it.

Just to possibly save someone's time:

Car's a lot rougher than it looks in the pictures.
-Offside rear bumper has some damage, looks like it hit a pole.
-Bottom of offside rear door bent inwards and has allowed water ingress. Looks like a car had been parked beside and rubbed it with edge of front bumper, as it reversed with lock.
-steering wheel filthy and covered in a thick layer of muck.
    -handbrake wrapped in black tape
    -gearstick knob badly worn
-central information screen display is broken/faded
-Badly faded/corroded rear spoiler and headlights
    -No service history stamps
-Front fog Lamps in very bad condition
-plastic trims on bottom of bumpers loose
    -One wheel arch liner missing
-4 different budget tyre brands (v good threads)
    -Engine bay in good nick

Overall, the car is rough and it's very rough for the odometer reading quoted.

    I don't think it's worth the headache.

The garage itself seems good and the staff pleasant.

The black trims are notorious for fading on them all.

Yep, and an automatic car wash will ruin the Perspex rear window/spoiler handy enough too.

Trims easily and cheaply sorted with Polytrol every 6 months, or Gtechniq if you’re feeling flush.

    170 bhp TDI A4, test til 2/21, €1950

This looks quite tidy. Is a 170 worth a small premium over the ubiquitous 140?
