    Very very tempting.

My A6 ran out of NCT in April and tax the end of may.
It needs a rear indicator unit (I reversed into a wall)
    Front bushings
    Two rear tyres
A service and I need a tow bar, this yoke has a tow bar!
The spin from Mayo to Cork is my problem, it it was closer I'd buy it today.

Hah, if I remember correctly you bought your current one in Cork didn’t you?

    I certainly did.
I'm not ruling another trip out either!

9-3 turbo estate, test til February 2021, €850

No way of telling what engine output it is, seems cheap regardless.

Nice find Duke I'm very tempted to go Saab 9-3 on my next purchase .
They seem well able to do high mileage worth a punt anyway

Ahh will ya stop, that has to be the worst ad ever, two lousy pics of something shoved into the abandoned corner, swipe left:p

Not saying it'll be the case on that A4, with its 7 owners, but from experience I've found terrible ads like that to always yield gems.

Basing off the interior trim I’d say it’s 175hp b207l engine.

Could be just the 1.8t either, in which case it'll be 150bhp

I don't get it. I spent the last few months trying to get rid of the 1.8i that I bought last year, and now that I sold it a couple of days ago, the Gods keep shoving more Saabs than I can take back in my face!
Do I listen and go again?

If that mileage is actually correct and it's only 190,000kms, that would be awful low mileage for an A4 Avant

    Hell yeah.

The Saab is fast becoming a sleeping giant again. The “younger” lads seem to have copped on to the fact that you can play with the engines in these and they
Can make some great power. Plus insurance is low, and not a bad looking car. They are ageing well.

I’m on my 3rd Saab, I picked up one from here. Needed some
Work but it’s solid now. Gone over the car with a toothpick and replaced anything that needed doing.

250hp for under €2500. Yes please.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,720 ✭✭✭Mad_Mike

Yeah, we have had 3 in the last year, a 1.8i, a 1.8t and a 1.9Tid and they just keep on going!
Finding it very hard not to grab another one as they are such good value compared to everything else

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15 HelmsDeep

This thread is really REALLY making me consider buying a SAAB...
My main concern is that it would become a money pit,and I'd end up spending 1000s on it to make it last 1-2 years.
    Dispel my doubts please!

    Like, say for example-
    adverts.ie/car/saab/93/2008-saab-93-1-8t-low-mileage/20568735
    And
    donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/08-saab-93-1-9-tid-nctd-and-taxed-10-20/24451251
    And
    donedeal.ie/cars-for-sale/saab-9-3-1-9tid-sport-estate-low-tax-nct06-2021/24943947

They all look pretty ok to me... would I be naive to think they'd run flawlessly for the next year or so?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2, Paid Member Posts: 6,391 ✭✭✭This is it

Sure you can't guarantee any car will run flawlessly, but there are plenty of parts available for them.

I went from a 93 to a c220 and would swap back in a heartbeat. C220 is quicker and is auto compared to manual in the 93 but the 93 was so much more comfortable, it had so much more space, and in 3 years of ownership the only issue I had was the steering rack which is apparently an issue with them, and €250 odd set that right. My next car will either be a year or two old mid range saloon or a 93/95. Absolutely love Saabs and the later models, I think 08 onwards, are really nice.

If it’s as clean as described you would be a happy camper.

I was tempted myself to go for it, but I back out as I really don’t need another Saab anymore!

Not bangeromics but for that price it about right if clean - and boy does it look clean €200 road tax is mental considering the power and the kit you get

    Holy Jaysus enough SAABs.

    100% agree.
I've picked up some lovely cars from rubbish adverts.
The initial conversation on the phone is generally where I make my decision. Doesn't take long to establish if a seller is genuine.

perfect example of a **** ad with a genuine seller, bonus points for getting her son to write the description

nearly identical to the ad I bought my superb from a couple years ago

Off the road two years, new engine just fitted, €600 sale price sounds more than the new engine should cost, no NCT, no outside pictures. What tyres are on it? Who would even view a car like that?

    That is not bangernomics.

How much is the newly fitted engine worth? Was the NCT failed or just not put forward? I would think this is at best a fixerupper, or should be parted.

that'll end up being a typo and it's parked up last 2 months and new engine oil fitted. Not even joking, don't under estimate the **** ads on donedeal

I think colm_mcm had one of those for six years and said they were a fine car he only changed due to upgrading to a estate.

They are good, mpg is good too but it's a 2007 so on old tax..
Worth under €2k to be honest.

If it wasn't for the high tax i would have had a look at it.

They normally go for half that.

Now, it’s probably in great condition, and they’re unbelievably well built.
    It’s still value IMO.
