Parcel motel is domestic post for them though, which couriers and postal service are rightly prioritising, just as they are in Ireland.

It's not just Amazon either. It's a lot of retailers

Quite frankly people having a whinge at this sort of thing given the ongoing situation is a bit rich

Amazon can't supply their Prime service to Irish customers while supplying it to their UK customers. Its a bit rich for them to ignore the problem and keep charging for Prime.

It's such a shame because it was great. Wonder what it's like from Germany for example. Its not worth paying prime if the deliveries can be made quicker through the likes of parcel motel etc.
Doubt it's free to Ireland. Am seeing more items on Amazon being "no delivery to Ireland"; there should be a "will deliver to Ireland" option.

Contacted them there. Other than the "if stuff is not at fulfilment, it won't get delivered straight away", but avoided why if stuff is going to UK it'll go straight away, if stuff going to Ireland it won't be dispatched for a week. Got a fiver credit, but would prefer getting my stuff on time!

Has anyone tried Amazon.de Prime? What's shipping like? If it's faster than two weeks, and is free, may jump ship!

It seems to be exactly the same as far as I can tell.

Regarding the time it takes to ship, or what Prime was pre-COVID?

The delivery times are the same as buying from Amazon.co.uk now.

Interesting, I was convinced I only paid about £12 for my annual prime membership, but looking back through my history, and through a boards.ie bargain alert, it was actually £59 :D Now I'm thinking, why did I pay £59? Is there any benefit besides faster delivery (looks like it's no longer a thing)?

I know you're able to get free delivery on orders over £25 without Prime, and that you can get anything under £25 delivered free WITH Prime so you avoid delivery fees, on my page it says "You've avoided £284.24 in delivery fees", so obviously the £59 is worth it for me.

I try avoid ordering single stuff and generally wait until I've enough stuff to order a bigger delivery, it saves air miles, less hassle waiting in for stuff and I'm generally not in a rush for things I order, the prime delays spoken about in this thread aren't that big an issue for me. So waiting until I have over £25 worth of stuff has never really been an issue before I had Prime.

I'm just thinking is it worth the £79 renewal for me next month and what drew me to pay £59 for it in the first place as I can't really remember now :pac:

If you use their streaming service and store your pictures for "free" then its still a good deal if you don't watch anything on Prime video then it becomes less attractive.

I didn't know that we could get free deliveries from amazon.de with prime.

How long does orders take to arrive to Ireland?

I was talking about the delivery times, not costs. Prime delivery is only free to Germany and Austria on Amazon.de.

There's really no point ordering from Amazon.de unless it's substantially cheaper as there are the same dispatch delays and you have to pay for delivery unlike Amazon.co.uk.

I’ve had Prime since February, and not received anything I’ve ordered inside of a week - 34 orders so far. I placed an order earlier this week, expected delivery is 11 days (Thursday next week). I tried duplicating the order and despatching to Parcel Motel; I can have it this Thursday. I contacted Customer Services and the response wasn’t great. The two days only applies once it is despatched. They can’t tell me why U.K. orders are despatched quicker than Irish orders as they don’t believe it happens, even after I processed the duplicate order and gave them the two different order numbers. The CS Rep was quite condescending and told me that Amazon don’t force me to shop with them, I can go elsewhere or I can go to NI to collect my order if I want it quicker.

I was looking at a few items on Amazon there and the delivery dates to Ireland were this Friday, 19 June.

Now it's changed again to 26 June. I thought they might have finally being taking some notice of us but apparently not!

I had the exact same response, literally paying for nothing. I have always been very impressed with amazons customer service but totally changed that opinion after how rude they were when questioned about this. Seems to me they don’t have the answer and are gettin frustrated with people asking the same question. It is annoying how if it’s uk it is dispatched straight away, but Ireland won’t be dispatched for over a week.

About 50% of items are showing as delivery this Friday again, I just cancelled and reordered an item to see if I get it by then.

    Have two deliveries that were update today;

Package arrived at an Amazon facility
    Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire GB

Package arrived at an Amazon facility
    Lonate Pozzolo, VA IT

Both will arrive Friday. Both were ordered 9th June.
So, the top parcel I got today. It was dispatched on Sunday. The Amazon bot blamed lack of supplies going into the warehouse.

After COVID, I'm sure they'll use brexit as an excuse.

I am not sure if i said this already.
It has become clear to me in reason months that the free postage to Ireland is being phased out.

it has been available for every order i've made recently. i only order items that amazon sells itself or that amazon fulfills.

I reckon about 80% of my orders from the last few months are now showing as delivery on Monday (with the rest on Tuesday or Wednesday). That's a big improvement, hopefully it lasts this time.

EDIT: No it hasn't they're all back to the 26 again.

I do see a bit of stuff as "don't deliver to Ireland", but no more than usual.

I've seen way more than usual but was looking at a mattress last night (replacement folding bed mattress) and bizarrely it did deliver to Ireland and I could have it next Monday????

I've noticed more not delivering to Ireland as well. Some odd things as well, like you can get a certain colour of something delivered but select a different colour & it won't deliver.
I've also had items in my basket that would deliver but left them a few days before ordering. When I went back they would no longer deliver so I had to select a different colour.

Check who fulfils the order. I'm assuming not Amazon?

There were a few hours on Monday/Tuesday when the two day delivery was back for a while.

Thought I’d try emailing the Amazon UK CEO in the hopes I might get a straight answer from the CEO Escalation team. I asked why RoI deliveries are being throttled but they told me the reason why packages can be delivered quicker to Parcel Motel NI than RoI addresses is due to air freight. I’m going to have to get more motivated about alternative suppliers.

    I emailed jeff@amazon.com - the big boss :)

I usually get a quick reply but this time nothing. I even sent him a link to this thread :pac:

I copied the big boss in, and got zip

    I emailed Jeff as well.

I got a standard cut and paste reply about covid, things returning to normal, valued customer, blah blah....

It was pretty obvious it was just cut and paste as the same reply was pasted 5 times in the message
