They were told initially that they believed she was dead, then they were told that they believed she could be alive, and now she's dead again? Without releasing details of the actual evidence surely it's hard to believe the evidence could be that convincing? Unless they've dug something else up in the meantime I suppose...

Hopefully they're closer to knowing what happened at least.

It's crazy following this case since it happened. I always held the belief that there was a terrible accident and the parents covered it up.

Otherwise she was snatched and killed within 24 hours since that's the statistical most likely outcome with child abduction.

The evidence they have must be photo/video of her dead or being killed which is insane. Absolutely horrible. This guy if proved guilty is beyond redemption.

I hadn't considered what evidence they have but as you mention it, it couldn't be evidence of being killed because that would give them the perpetrator as well.
Could they have her DNA from a site where it suggests she wasn't alive.
    I don't know.

That’s something that will never stop.

In relation to their reckless negligence, it should never stop.

It's vitally important other parents learn from this.

The attitude alone in this thread is concerning. Ah shur look they were only having a few glasses of wine etc.

It's very important for anyone who thinks of doing similar realize the potential consequences of leaving young kids home alone.

Anyone remember the 'You know what they're looking at?' scene in Heat? Wouldn't surprise me if that might be what's happening here to some degree. They leak all this info that they have evidence that Madeleine is dead perhaps to see what certain people might do, or say, or maybe even who visits a certain place they are surveilling. Just seems a little odd to be revealing this info in this manner otherwise.

He wore a mask when raping the elderly woman. And he video taped it.

If he did the same it's obvious its him but not 100% beyond doubt since anyone could be wearing that mask.

Still no concrete evidence of what happened. I will remain skeptical about a conclusion.

He is is was in prison up to recently for raping an elderly woman, late 70’s early 80’s... he does seem like an absolute psycho. Also going by what he told his girlfriend at dinner prior to the abduction....jeez
What did he say, anything of real detail?

There was an Irish woman who was raped by a German sounding man in 2005 or so. She said that she is certain this new suspect in the McCann case was the perpetrator. (She also said the police were useless and the resort tried to stop her from reporting it incase it scared off tourists)

There is no way. This the German Federal Police we're talking about. They have 100% logical evidence that this man killed the girl, but not what would hold up in court. If they did he would be charged already. There is no way in hell they would release this info, in a country that is obsessed with privacy unless they were 100% sure and needed just a bit more to connect it all.

Like I said, maybe they have him on film murdering the little girl with a mask on. Everything in the world points to him but that's not enough in court, it needs to be 100%.

That would be great but I seriously doubt that. That’s something that will never stop.

It's going to take a special kind of Daily Mail reader to continue to believe conspiracy theories about the McCanns if some direct evidence of the girl's murder by another party is uncovered.

Perhaps they have records of communications, if he had any helpers, but no physical evidence...

    Poor girl.

CB was apparently told years ago he was a hot suspect from the German side

I imagine if there was going to be panic and movement of anything, it would have been then.

Absolutely they were negligent and I'm sure they live with that every single day.

Do you have to find something to criticise about absolutely everything?
Can you not appreciate the fact that we’re probably not being given all the details, and that more information will probably come to light in the public domain in the coming weeks?

I don’t know.. there are many posters on this thread and others who have made absolute fools of themselves over the years, spouting absolute rubbish and posing “questions” that they didn’t actually want to hear the answers to, as they were actually just blatant judgments and cheap shots.

You would hope that given the news in the last few hours these people would maybe take a break from the internet for a few hours or even a few days and give it a rest, but I wouldn’t count on it.
There’s a lot of ego to defend.

But it's the abrasive nature of your responses that grates on people.

Anyway...just hope that this is closure for this family. They will suffer forever for making a completely idiotic decision which lead to this, and just because some of us have compassion because we can empathise with how utterly empty they must feel inside despite their bravado and their PR spin doesn't mean we don't know their decisions lead to her abduction. Everyone does. You can take your bat cape off now.

True but they know he made a call that night and so it would be my guess that that they know who this person is, but maybe do not have enough evidence to charge them, and so released this information to draw that person out in someway.
