Putin and I are both Judo black belts, so I'd like a training session with him then go for a skinfull of vodka. He's a mad bastard so we'd probably end up knocking lumps out of each other again on Red Square, then in the morning we'd go bear fighting :)

I can't think of a single Irish politician I'd fancy going for a gargle with, although a total muppet in government but I think Simon Harris comes across as a nice person but probably not a gargler.

Maybe but I’d say you’d need a full wallet. They’d bring you to the pub they own and you just know they aren’t getting a round in.

They’d probably give you a lift home afterwards though.

Oh on the contrary. I think if you went out with the HRs they would not let you put your hand in your pocket all night.
These rural politicians would know onlt too well that sustained rumours of stinginess or skipping out on rounds could be career suicide.

Any of them really apart from the likes of Paul Murphy. They’d expect me to pay for everything.

Pearse Doherty. Supposed to be great craic to have pints with

    JFK, Obama, Trudeau or Varadkar
Trudeau and Varadkar would be bores of the highest order I imagine. They wouldn't let themselves have the craic.

I can't imagine anything worse than pints with Pearse Doherty. His voice is annoying enough on the radio without voluntarily listening to him in a pub!

Obviously he's dead, but I would love to have shared a bottle of Riesling with Otto von Bismarck, and picked his brains on his approach to diplomacy and realpolitik.
    Cynical bastard.

Introduced the old age pension to pre-empt riots. But then set the threshold age above life expectancy to keep costs down.

Charles-Maurice "Regimes may fall and fail, but I do not." de Talleyrand-Périgord would be another slippery customer who lived to a ripe old age.

Putin. He doesn't say much in public but I'd suspect you get the guy talking and he would be fascinating.

    Pat Rabbitte

Any man that size can definitely put away the pints. It would be a long crazy session

Talks plenty when he feels like it. See the Oliver Stone interviews.

Yeltsin if he was still alive. You would have a monster session with him. Dancing as well. That boy could boogie.

Probably need a liver transplant next day though.

Trump ,Putin and one of the Raes are all teetotal.
My only experience of politicians on the beer has put me off ever contemplating their session company .
I had had the "pleasure"of seeing pee Flynn vaingloriously swishing a snifter of brandy with his back to the bar counter in a five star hotel .He surveyed the room, chest out, full pomp like Cesar waiting for his adulation from the adoring masses.
When he was totally ignored or not recognized by a younger demographic he burst out into song and was promptly told to pipe down.
I enjoyed seeing him squirm probably not as much as he enjoys spending his 250,000 a year pension but nevertheless a small victory in my little mind.

Definitely former German chancellor Helmut Schmidt if he were still alive, for purely personal reasons.

He worked with my grandfather when he was “Polizeisenator” for the city of Hamburg in the 1950s. My grandfather was in charge of payroll for all city employees at the time, including the police force and I know from my late dad that granddad and Schmidt worked very closely together. Since I know next to nothing about my paternal grandfather, I’d love the chance to pick the brains of someone who actually worked with him for years.

Good luck trying to figure me out. I haven't managed that myself yet!

Bertie, fill him full of Beamish, get into a row and then kick seven shades out of him when he took a swing.
