That nobody needed to ‘cancel’ Al Johnson either people just disregard the work. You act as though White Chicks has broad appeal.
    White Chicks Box office
The film grossed $19.7 million in its opening weekend, taking the #2 spot. It finished with $70.8 million at the box office in the United States, and $42 million in other territories, for a worldwide total of $113.1 million, against a budget of $37 million.

So why the big deal about blackface, its from a different era, what is the difference between Al and white chicks?
Its just entertainment, why does it not have artist merit representing its time?

Yeah, I never much cared for them.

That’s your preference but both of them are acclaimed. Putting them in the ‘crap’ category is farcical. And I suspect you know that. I’m not the biggest fan of The Mighty Boosh but I know it’s not crap.

Patronising the general public by pulling shows is moronic.

Are you white Irish i presume?
Speaking of the Simpsons in the 90s if you were an Irish American your representation on TV was a Drunken Leprechaun fighting and countless Drunken fighting Irish stereotypes in movies and TV shows.
No Micks gave a shît, living in the real world with real problems, or maybe just thick skinned, we will never know.

No Micks gave a ****? What was this?

Not talking about cereal, we are talking about the SIMPSONS, no campaign to remove stereotypes of Micks from that show and Lucky Charms where sold in Ireland, pure diabetes in a breakfast bowl, had them as a child, there was no banning, too sweet with added diabetes for the Irish market.

There's no greater abuse in Hollywood than a non-native Irish actor trying to portray an "Irish" (whatever that is) accent.

When it happens the Irish sit back and laugh though. We don’t try and get the movie banned or removed because an American got to act as an Irish person.

Imagine that. Actors pretending to be something they’re not.

    Shocking stuff.

    Google is blacklisting 'blacklist'
    https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-7226543/Googles-new-respectful-code-policy-politically-correct.html
The set of two documents, one of which is referred to as the 'respectful code' policy, obtained by Daily Caller show the internet search giant has directed employees to remove references to 'blacklist,' 'whitelist' and 'master/slave,' among other things, from the programming that makes its products operate.

    What is next?
    Banning the chess?

It’s cringeworthy. My fiancé gets sadistic thrill in watching my cringe, because she doesn’t always spot how cringeworthy it actually is.

They where around for a while, pure sugar, everyone tried them but not to Irish tastes.
There was no campaign to ban them , people bought once ,did not like them and they went away.

Racism is when a non-white person is discriminated against.

It is not possible in the modern world to be racist against whites.

That may be, but does that invalidate how other castes feel about their portrayals in media? Mickey Rooney was mentioned. Asians at large have denounced these depictions (and always have). whites aren’t upset enough by white chicks to call for it to be canceled etc. - what relevance is that to the prerogative of blacks to speak out against the way they are characterized in the culture?

I don't recall a Nazi swastika at a Down match.
The confederate flag at a Cork game however....

Anyone every complaining about snowflakes again should be shown the people in this thread.
People absolutely up in arms about a movie that is NOT cancelled.
    It's genuinely baffling to me.

    as i said yesterday
A backlash is mounting against depictions of “good cops,” on television and in the street.

I saw a meme and it was something like "your daughter's love us" and all the woke liberal girls were like tagging their friends being like "not wrong" but this same thing perpetuates negative black stereotypes just in a different way

More rubbish, shelving a film that was made 81 years ago about the civil war just to keep SJWs happy.

It was about the south during the civil war so of course blacks were going to be slaves in it.

Im deeply offended by the movie, why do my feeling not matter?
Are we playing favourites , my white feeling don't count, i'm expected to just shrug my shoulders and suck it up and get on with living my life, but if i was black i would not have to put up with this racist movie being freely available.
Black folk are free to be happy go lucky in life, and you see this everywhere, black folk living their best life , free from offence, while my white ass is offended by this White Chicks movie.
Double standards approved by the woke left.

This thread is the perfect example of how boards now mostly consists of old farts complaining about largely imaginary problems.

If you are exasperated by people concentrating on relative trivia, rather than the main issues of cultural and racial bigotry, discrimination and persecution, then I sympathise. And agree.

But it's not an "imaginary problem". The moving of Gone With the Wind into cold storage by an online distribution company; the (albeit temporary, it would appear) removal of a famous Fawlty Towers episode, the suspension of some episodes of little Britain (which I don't watch and about which I know little) all happened. And I'll bet the decisions weren't taken by any of the "old farts" who occasionally post here.

These are pathetic examples of "virtue signalling" or "posing" as it used to be called. People who substitute taking any real and substantial action on behalf of a worthy cause with minor gestures that serve no purpose other than giving the opportunity for prigs to "call out" anybody who demurs from their own standards.

Nobody said that. They said that flying a sunk of white supremacy like that was an appalling sign of ignorance. It would be like Down fans flying a swastika because it has red and black.

If they don't want to bring American politics into GAA, don't fly an American flag.

You're just a teensy step away there from calling it "cultural appropriation", which is another pointless posy way of deflecting debate away from real issues into insignificant ones.

Look. The Rebel Flag issue is a storm in a teacup. Its banning will not, I am sure, impact in any way on the fervency with which Cork people support their teams. They'll find some other "Rebel" parallel. Maybe they will identify with the "Rebel Alliiance" of Star Wars, and then come to the grounds dressed as Wookies or Ewoks or whatever (I stopped watching Star Wars after the fourth one__I'n not sure exactly who comprises the Rebel Alliance)

Of course in that situation, it is not hard to envisage those who hold the "image rights" to such costumes insisting that only "genuine" branded (ie expensive) costumes are worn in public otherwise "THEIR" intellectual property is being tradduced!!! But I digress.

All I am saying is that I firmly believe few if any Cork supporters flew the Stars n Bars in sympathy with slavery. Or the Confederacy. In fact I suspect most of them don't even know what the Confederacy was.

It is just one of numerous examples of symbols, icons, phrases, songs, words etc that might be harmless in one part of the world but would have negative connotations in others. Haven't you read/seen the Da Vinci Code?
