Clutch slipping/heavy pedal

I have a car that is 5 years old, SUV, diesel, 1.7 engine. 100km on clock. Got it serviced and all new tyres today - 770. They then said that my clutch was slipping and I had a 'heavy pedal.' They said I will need a new clutch soon, which will cost 900 euros. I had been thinking of trading down to a small 201 car for 3.5k. Is it worth keeping the car and getting the clutch fixed. The car has been well maintained and cared for to date. How long will I get out of the clutch - I don't have 900 currently to spend on the car, after spending 770 today on it.

What make of car is it and due a timing belt as no mention.Depending on your driving ways you might get months out of it but hard to say when told its slipping.

It's a popular issue with them and unfortunately does need sorting or it will get worse to the point of total failure. Slipping isn't the issue with them, the pedal gets stiff to press due to wear on the pressure plate. Eventually the pressure plate or part of the hydraulic system fails.

Ony question is, is it an ix35 or a Sportage?

It's a ix35 - is this just the beginning of trouble - is it worth keeping the car. I can get upgrade to ix20 2018 for 3.5k - I don't want another SUV, or I could keep until next year and trade in and put balance for new i10 - want smaller car as kids will be left home then.
