Two vent pipes to header tank

Is it normal to have two vent pipes in an unvented central heating system? I think it might be to do with an old back boiler which was removed from the system a few years ago. One of the vent pipes has a valve in the hot press that turns it on and off. Is it not dangerous to have a valve on a vent pipe?

The other vent pipe and f&e pipe have no valves.

Well, you can have a unvented CH system but have a vented hot water cylinder OR you could have a vented CH system (with F&E tank & vent or vents) with a unvented hot water cylinder. Whichever system or combination of systems is fitted cannot have a valve on its vent pipe under any circumstances.

    Thanks John,
It's time I call a plumber and have the valve removed as very dangerous. I've currently tied it open so nobody can close accidentally. I have an f&e pipe, it also has a valve but I imagine this is for draining the system, it's open too.
