Did rte report on Dublin being the most expensive city in the eurozone earlier?!

What makes you think RTE won't give her her own show?

The opposite-I think they will give her her own show. That's why I said 'We're gonna be stuck with Ebum for a while', and then when RTE don't give her a show (After many failed shows-because all these shows fail. Same as LON's) she'll play the race card.

    History repeats, frankly.

Ah, LON...she fairly piped down once she started getting the ride.

The Ebun Joseph situation is ridiculous, she is really making hay with the served-wrong-drink-must-be-racist 'incident', but i guess that's exactly the cause célèbre that RTE loves.

RTE has gone to an new level.

Broadcasting the funeral of George Floyd on RTE news now '' LIVE'' .

That's the straw that broke the camels back for me regards paying for a TV licence again.

RTE can go and fu*k themselves from now on.

    WATF?

Did that really happen? Is Woke McDermott the Director General of RTE now?

Broadcasting the funeral of a man who held a gun to a pregnant woman's stomach and starred in porn? What happened to him was horrific and wrong, but let's not pretend he was an angel.

And what about Ebum Joseph ( and i'm not going to call her ''Dr'' because its an insult to doctors) peddling her racist Irish all week, the might as well give the idiot her own channel.
Everyday she is trying to stir something up and RTE are giving her free reign to say what she likes.

The "RibenaRacist" as my father calls her. She's actually doing m ore harm than good with her ranting. I abhor racism btw.

They gave Louise O'Neill her own shows, tons of promotion, lots of interviews etc etc etc based on a 'Rape culture-it's everywhere' platform... she then proceeded to paint about 200 people as rapists based on a non-existent facebook group that 'rated female students'.... which had a massive investigation, and then found nothing.

Was this the Law Society and What's App?

I am not sure you can avoid paying the licence fee. I resent having to pay for a channel who seem to dislike me (rural male white) before they know anything about me.

believe this was the Ag society in UCD and there was no trace of a whats app group....which she kept doubling down on saying there was...the only one that challenged her was Anton Savage on Today fm and you could hear her progressively getting pee'd off when he suggested it could happen to fellas about pics been shared around...(sadly they took down the audio when Savage got the boot from Todayfm - might be on youtube)

The law society chamber thing was on her show and she couldn't get the concept of innocent till proven guilty iirc

The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games was put in the shade by it all.

What show did she have on RTÉ. So it seems two investigations into alleged misconduct in UCD and in the Law Society were not upheld by the respective colleges.

UCD could find no evidence and received no complaints from the college, Jack Power then went on RTÉ and stood by his report, I didn't listen to that interview but I assume that as a journalist (now with The Irish Times) he verified the "tip-off", knew the source of the "tip-off" and had access to the facebook group and/or saw their posts to the group.

So what happens during the current crisis, when daily reports are happening.

Are you listening to Sky and BBC to what the UK are doing?

Sorry but RTE serves a purpose so talking about ditching it is very silly in my opinion. What it needs to focus on is what that purpose is. Spending millions on half assed radio station like 2FM is not the purpose. Let TodayFM etc work in that space.

I still cannot understand the fascination that Irish people (many of them) have for the news. It's like that they want to perpetually dwell on bad news; maybe it has to do with our weather.
If not using the Internet for news, I find that Virgin Media TV news does the trick on most days. 20 minutes watching one of their reports should catch you up with all the news you need.

Of course, if you want to be updated hourly on Direct Provisions and if you want to be reminded after you come home from work how racist we all are, then RTE is the channel for you. And just in case you miss it in their news, they will repeat how terrible we all are on their other "shows".

You never see this woman Dee Forbes on the front of the RTE Guide and being interviewed inside it. Like who the hell is she on this huge salary while RTE pumps out the same stupid repeats all the time. The latest new show, Marty in the Shed did it for me, what a load of flipping crap!

Don't mean to sound bad but I look only look at news feeds that are important to me and my family hourly updates on the removal of statues etc I have no interest in and do not effect me in anyway.

Have you ever been to the states?

The majority of people in Ireland might watch either the 6 or 9 news. Thats it. Hardly a fascination compared to other countries

Is George Lee an expert on face masks now?

George is an expert in everything in the eyes of RTE, used to be Finance, then Agriculture, then Climate change and now Health.
Whats next for the great George, A racist expert maybe.

When you hear George's voice at the start of a report you know it's going to be baaaad or saaaad news.

Not a bad as Barry Lenihan who when he is ‘set off’ is like a ferret down the rabbit hole.

Shoots off and unless you capture him quickly is ‘off and running’.

The lad just tries to bang out the negativity as quickly as he can, in a funeral voice which never ever shows and hint of promise. None whatsoever.

BadNewsBarry some people call the lad.

Very apt moniker in this posters opinion..... lad needs to loosen up.....c'mon Barry....surprise with some good noos now and again!

Like the lads used to do in Harolds Cross back in the day, need to slip a length of linoleum into the trap to slow the fcuker coming out .

All you would hear is the claws scraping off Lino when the door opened:D

Lenihan would be slowed down with that bad boy, might teach him a thing or two.

A tragic one at that, Jippo.

Never heard a guy who seems so eager and anxious to horse out the bad news.

Like a caged terrier waiting to be ‘unleashed’.

Someone seems to load him up with bile, let’s it build up, tips the bolt on the cage, and he’s gone like a gout of sour slurry.

Ah yes, the age old 'protecting my sources' bull crap. This usually means either a) They legitimately have a source, but cannot reveal that person's name due to putting that person's life in danger.
    b) Have a source, but the source is rather flakey, so this is a good 'out' for both.
    c) Know a guy, who's got a best friend, who knows another guy, who 'heard' about this story, but can't be quite sure...

or d) made the whole flipping thing up.

A more sinister angle one could take is that if he has 'access' to the group, what's to stop the durty individual from posting photos himself, in order to 'create' a story? Hey, it worked for William Randolph Hearst. :) (The making up a story, I mean-not accessing social media).

It was less 'getting the ride' and more having to make a couple of apologies to individuals she'd libeled.
I'd say her mam and dad were like 'you're living here rent free-but you can f*** off if you think we're paying any of your legal fees if you're getting sued'.
She got quiet on social media after that-I'd say even the IRish Examiner would have kicked her a*se to the curb if she got them in trouble.

The jobs market is in s**t at the moment. I'd say it's slim pickings for a man hating feminist who natters on about 'white' privilege in a country with 800 years of oppression under its belt.
