Yea its 514 for the year.

It's just the regular 1.6 rate. Some of them on CO2 are 750 Euro p.a

End of the road for the 1.4 at that mileage.

The only test it has is the temporary arrangement where it doesn’t require testing til 27/08.

I had a 04 one. Put up 240k miles (400,000kms) before I had to scrap it. Engine was still going. It was other repairs that made it not worth fixing.

How much oil were you putting into it? I doubt it had a test either as they're impossible to get through the emissions once they go over the 200k mark.

That could be your experience of a single 1.4

    https://www.donedeal.ie/cars/Volkswagen/Golf/Petrol?verifications=nct&engine_to=1.4&mileage_from=200000&year_to=2009

All Golf 1.4's before 2009 with minimum 200,000 kms and with valid NCT

[EDIT]The reason I believe different also, is a friend of mine bought one brand new in 2004 and it's still in the same family and has done 420,000 kms at this stage and never had an issue with NCT apart from cv boots, shocks etc, but it has been well looked after and regularly serviced from day one[/EDIT]

    Those 1.4's are very fickle.

You do see a multitude of ****ters that burn oil and run like a dog. They are very fragile that way.

On the other hand anything with a service history that has had its oil services on time seem to go on and on. Have seen a few over 300k kms.

That Golf looks like a dog IMO, if it didnt have the cream leather you wouldnt look twice at it.

Very clean looking Micra with a bit of Covid NCT left on it until August. 350 quid

Work colleague has an Octavia with that engine, he bought it when it was 2 years old (06 car bought in 08), minded this fcuker like a babby, at 220,000km it's burning oil like a good 'un. I know at least 3 golfs with the same carry on every one of them ended up with the scrap man (except the Octy he's still minding her like the golden child)

Burning a sup of oil isn't the end of the world either. I dont say that in defence of the 1.4 either, they aren't a great engine regardless.

When it makes it impossible to pass the test it's a disaster.

Oh yes, always liked it's oil. I had it from new. I serviced it with the correct oil for most of it's life and kept an eye on the level. Emissions fail once and it needed a part. Otherwise it was a good old Italian tune up on the way to the centre. Many cars will have emissions issues as they age. I'm not saying they are bullet proof. Just saying they are capable of more than 200kms.

    Somebody please buy this.

I got my second one a few months back here from a link and it's the best car I have ever owned.

This looks to be the 150hp model, so a quick tune will bring it to 210hp ( yes those engines were seriously detuned)

It's just an ECU map. A few guys in Ireland, and the UK can do it.

I spent £110 to take my aero up from 210 to 250 (baring in mind on paper its at that level - no dyno yet to prove it)

Nordic tuning, or noobtune would be well known ones for years. You mail off the ECU to them and its sent back.

It's far from M1nt but it'd be a solid buy at circa €500 if you could haggle to that or near it.

Any savvy buyer is getting that for €400 which is worth the 5 months tax and test alone!
