Will bulbs grow in a pot of wood chips?
Or how about a pot with 80% chip and 20% soil?
As in old mulch/bark. I have 3 20kg bags unused from last year.

Wouldn't say they'd grow well, there's not much nutrition in mulch, it's more for weed suppression and moisture retention.
It will add some nutrients as it breaks down but it would take a long time.
You'd be better with a 80% soil to 20% mulch than the other way around.

They need to be in soil with wood chips on top

    Thanks for replying.
Much as I thought really but your never know until you ask.

I'm still tempted to experiment though.

You might get hyacinths to grow in that mix. I've seen them growing in all sorts

if the wood chips were well broken down, i suspect the bulbs would be OK for a year or two. depends on how wet and decomposed last years wood chips are.

It's very earthy stuff. Probably should have posted a pic. in OP.

For giggles here's a pic. I'll fill a pot tomorrow with a few different bulbs and see what happens.
