Dutch oven recommendation?

I'm looking to buy a Dutch oven primarily for making sourdough I know absolutely nothing about them just wondering what's the best one for around €50/€60 or do I need to spend more? Thanks

Are you planning on sticking it on an open fire? If not, then this from Homestore and More would do the trick.

It for mum's birthday she was giving a loaf made in one and she's been converted lol it's for an oven anyway so that one would probably be okay thanks

I have the smaller version of that home store and more one and it’s great. Haven’t t made sourdough in it though!

Expensive gift for just making sourdough. However, one that size will do the trick nicely

But it's a great casserole to have for other uses.

We've had one for a good few years now. It's as good as Le Creseut but a fraction of the price. Just don't let metal anywhere near it.

Just make sure you get one with a knob that can be heated to the temperature you’ll be using. Some Le Creuset knobs can be heated to 190 and others 250. I’m not sure which mine is so I just remove it and plug the hole with a little foil. I’m planning on buying a Lodge Combo Cooker to make the whole process easier. Less chance of burning myself!

If they’re going to be using it on an open fire then it really should be a Dutch Oven. If they aren’t, then it would be mad not to just buy a large casserole dish.

I remember looking at those toasting things before, and I think they've got a proper name, but I can't remember what it is :rolleyes:

This one seems quite cheap compared with the prices I saw before.
