The practice day is really good. I can't imagine there are many PCAs left to do. It's a shame they cancelled them, especially when their student officers were still doing their final PCA Assessment before pass out a month later. (Police college tweet back in April).

It is hard to go the wrong way during the pca as it is all marked out on the floor with arrows telling you where to go, I'd suggest studying this diagram of the pca layout until you can run around the course in your head with knowing which way to go around cones etc. https://www.joinpsni.co.uk/uploads/1506032226-pca-diagram.pdf
At mine one of the instructors ran out in front of me and I still managed to beat the pass time by 50 seconds.

You can download the course map from here
    https://www.joinpsni.co.uk/uploads/1506032226-pca-diagram.pdf

Each lap is 100m in total, complete 3 times. Lucky for me, I work in a warehouse that has 30m long aisles. I used the plan above and set the course up when everyone went home each night. 25m up filled with obstacles, back 25m with more obstacles, 25m sprint up, 25m sprint back. Repeat another two times.

This helps massively. Didn’t know this existed. Need to find myself a warehouse 😂

Just received my email today that I have passed my vetting, forms sent away last week of December which isn’t to bad. Only the medical left to do, hopefully they have them up running soon.

Congrats! That’s the hard part out of the way. I’m sure you’ll sail through the medical and SMT once they are up and running.

Yea that’s what I’m told. Fear is that I know the right route to take through the course. Is it marked where to go next or do have to learn it?

Losing my way was my fear too but the familiarisation day fixed that for me. I went round the track as much as possible and knew it like the back of my hand before I left the place.

I did no training and passed comfortably. I'm not even a fitness monkey. It is doable; if you dig deep you will get it

    Yeah pca is easy

I practised out on the farm with some animals an chickens as obstacles.

    The course is well arrowed

Go as hard as u can from word GO

I did it over 3 mins..

    I'm 15st

Likewise, no training and 3hrs sleep the night before.

I managed a tiny bit over 3 minutes.

Don’t get me wrong, I was wrecked but it’s doable.

Aye don’t be afraid, just go to the fam day and that’ll settle you right down. Of course there’ll be nerves on the PCA day but that’s normal.

What I will say though, at your fam day the police kinda want you away as quick as possible and lazy people who are there with you will give up and stand around after about 15 minutes. Do not stop what you are doing. Make use of the full allocated time. There was a large group who faffed about at mine and the police were like “ok folks that’s us”, myself and 5 other people told them no, we aren’t finished. Police said oh, ok, carry on for a while there.

    It’s your time, take it.

I was told there’d definitely be calls next week by the head of recruitment, however I’ve just been told that some of the people who deferred earlier in the year have had calls this morning.

    Can anyone confirm?
