Can anyone recommend the next best snow foam to Bilt Hamber? Everywhere seems to be sold out of Auto Foam so just looking for the next best thing.

Not sure if they are open or not.

Forget Amazon...support Irish companies that supply the stuff instead :)

My Wo-Wo order arrived yesterday. Went for the wheel mitt and drying towel, some drying towels and some microfibre. Look like good quality and I look forward to trying them out. There was a note inside saying they had run out of mesh bags but they gave a code for 50% off next order so I'm happy enough with that.

I usually would but in fairness I'd be getting it for 15 euro cheaper with postage etc. Hard to turn my nose up at that. I'd say 75% of my products are irish bought :)

Hard to support irish companies when there costs are so high. Its nearly always cheaper in long run by buying online from abroad.

I needed a spring for my mower recently as an example in Ireland 1 spring for the deck 18e plus another 10e for delivery and a 2 week wait as special item order from USA. Bought 2 springs direct from online supplier = total of 12 dollars plus 15 euro delivery via addresspal to the door.

What’s the general consensus on the best glass coating these days?

I was going to go for car pro fly by forte but it seems to be sold out at any of the Irish suppliers I’ve checked.

Didn't like fly by forte, found it ok for a week or 2 but performance dropped drastically after that but it does admittedly last much longer maybe 12 months with good care.

2 I found best for performance were autobrite repel and car chem ultra v2 both performed better and for decent period maybe 3-6 months depending on care.

12 months versus 3-6 is definitely appealing. I don’t actually like a coating on the windscreen so it would be for the side and back only. I remember using wolfs years ago when ceramics were just kicking off and it was amazing. Wonder if it is still about, you don’t really hear of them these days.

Totally understandable just my personal feelings are there's always an element of smear with wipers on with coatings on glass so I go for ones that work the best with little to zero wipers use.

Having to put it on twice a year or once a year means nothing to me.

P.S on side windows coatings last way longer than main screens in my experience.

Managed to get some Auto Foam from Slims yesterday. Only £16 + 7.50 postage, happy with that.

I got a couple bottles of it on slims detailing a couple weeks ago and it’s still in stock on their site. I ordered on a Saturday and had it the following Friday with DPD.

After washing the car, the glass is clean so i always use The Reflect Super Vision and find it brilliant. https://www.reflectautocare.ie/Glass-Cleaner

Bird cr@p lads. It’s starting to depress me. Seriously. Doesn’t matter where I park.

Anyway, aside from that - how long do people usually leave snow foam on the car before power washing off?

I usually snow foam the car then go around the trim, badges, windows etc with a detailing brush.
By the time I've done all that I'm ready to rinse

Try and do it very early or later in evening if sunny as with the heat it evaporates way to quick to do anything.

Detailed a friends neglected, 13 year old black Ibiza today. Dull paint and swirls to beat the band and full of contaminants. For a small car it took ages to get it washed, detarred and clayed prior to machine polishing. A bonnet test showed good results with a Scoll purple pad and S20, maybe 80% swirl reduction, but a more aggressive compound would have useful. The S20 is a great product, super lubrication and resisted drying in the heat. No pictures unfortunately but it was a dramatic enhancement.

Finally got a new Karcher today and wanted to snowfoam the bike but I had none, I'd seen muc off snowfoam in megabikes last time I was there so nipped over and bought that. I was super impressed a lot of foam for a small amount and the bike came out really well. There is a good bit of protection on it anyway but still, happy with the outcome

Are spray waxes and quick detailers similar or different altogether ? If so could anyone recommend a spray wax I could use ?

TW Sealant Wax is fantastic. Wouldn't use anything else now.

So with the lockdown getting all the choirs done and car washing one of them that kills time. Got a Karcher Power washer and tried it last week with Karcher shampoo but now looking for refills. I am no cleaning / car expert as would go to local business to get this done.Just going to clean it down first and then shampoo it and then wipe it down. Not sure about polish maybe wax to protect it

I dont want to spend a small fortune so just want are the main products I should get ? Dont want all bell and whistles as car is used daily and builds up bird crap and muc regularly . Something to get it looking good for the weekend..........when per Murphys law it will probably rain :-(

Nothing to strenuous ha ha just something to kill the time

Was looking at the Autoglym Shampoo. So take it just add required amount into Karcher and add water and spray accordingly/ Sorry for all the Homer questions just been so lazy pre lock down never really looked at washing car by hand but now taken an interest in it and keeps kids amused

Read this thread and also going on Halfords website but its trying to decide whats the best

All suggestions welcome as what else is there to do in these Crazy times

Autoglym shampoo is a bucket n wash mitt product, it probably won't be that useful as pressure washer cleaner.

Seeing as you want to do minimal spending I'd suggest getting a bucket, a wash mitt and a shampoo/wax product along with the karcher universal cleaner bottles that connect to the pressure washer as a pre wash.

    Routine would then be

Spray car with universal cleaner, let it dwell for a minute
    Pressure wash off
Clean car with mitt using shampoo/wax product
    Pressure wash off

Halfords probably do there own wash/wax product or have a turtlewax product on the shelf. It's not something I'd suggest normally so can't say exactly what they have.

Is there not a power washer shampoo alternative available

Got the below with Karcher so possibly something to refill it with to spray car with shampoo

    Cheers

I was just trying to cover the wax/kids/easy/fun/quick/cheap side of it all. It's not that hard to do as I said above.

If you're happy with karcher stuff just keep using it.
