The new one is android and also has GMS.

That's what I thought as well

I think you'll find it's not running Android if it's the p40 pro your on about.

    I thought it's running Harmony.

No phones from Huawei use Harmony OS, its only being used on their TV's, IOT and possibly some watches.

    P40 runs Android.

    https://www.gsmarena.com/huawei_p40-10153.php

............But this thread is about the P30, and the new version is detailed in post 28 above.

What the P40 doesnt have is GMS.

    P40 runs Android.

It doesn't have Google services and won't get Google security updates. Haven't looked into it enough to comment.

I was wrong. Was just talking off the bat, kinda tuned out of Huawei when heard it won't be full Google.

This "new" P30 pro seems to be their workaround for google services

It is, It will be interesting to see the spec, last year they launched the mate 20X 5g after the may 17 date and it had a balong 5000 5G modem included. If they managed to do something similar, I'd be vaguely interested.Although the B5000 is limited to only 2/3 5G bands.

Not mad keen on buying anything at the moment that doesn't have some 5g capability built in. Looking to hold on to whatever I buy for 2/3 years.

P30 is a cracking phone, no 5g is the only thing keeping me away from it.

I bought an S6 (2015) in the exited hope that i could use it for Samsung Pay.
I never got to, even after 5 years of usage.

Don't buy today for tommorows tech.

5G won't be usable for years in Ireland. Enjoy 4G and go 5G when the prices are no longer a €100 premium.

5G is currently available in Dublin city from Eir and Vodafone.

Barely so, and mostly not for any other carriers.

4G+ is still a luxury across most of the country

Indeed, theres some posters on the GOMO thread who have it. I ordered a Oneplus 8 on Wednesday night from EU Global, €579 all in. Just got a text from DHL a few moments ago saying it will be delivered on Monday.

865 Chipset, dual sim, Onyx black.

Didn't expect it until late may, can't wait now

I’m not too well up on the one plus but isn’t that the latest version.

I thought they cost a lot more than that . I’ve seen the one plus 7 pop up on Bargain alerts lately.

GoMo are 'eir' so it makes sense they have access to the same network. I wonder if Post Mobile customers can get 5G from Vodafone as well?

    This too shall pass.

The 8/8pro is the latest and write a bit more expensive.

    Had a look at this.
It's a CN Ver. with flashed OS, can it be easily set back to Oxygen?
I'm assuming google store/movies etc don't work on the flashed version?

Did this arrive with you OK? I'm looking at getting the 7T myself and just wondering about your experience of dealing with them.

Let us know how you get on once the phone is up and running. It is very tempting at that price .

Sorry for the delay getting back, I missed these posts for some reason.

I got a delivery from EGlobal on Friday alright, just not the phone.
The Girlfriend ordered a Kindle about seven weeks ago on my account, it was that which arrived.

EGlobal are slow,I've bought from them a few times before, it'll probably be mid-late June before I get it.

The phone will come flashed with the global ROM, so it works like any phone bought here. Theres a couple of feeds on reddit dealing with all this.

I'll update when I get it.

I'm debating on whether or not to go for the OnePlus 7T from here. It's a great deal and it's out of stock on the oneplus website so I'm very tempted. If I can sell my oneplus 6 it'll be a great deal.

I can't fault the 7T. It does everything very well.

For the money its now going for, its a no-brainer if it fits your usage.
