Interesting Soccer games been shown each Saturday by ITV, today the 1979 FA cup final between Arsenal & Manchester United.
Two clear differences to today's premier league neither for the good if im asked .
    1. All players get up and keep going no matter what way they were tackled or fouled , far more manly than todays lot of divers.
    2. Theres a lot of Irish in this game ie Brady , Stapleton , o'Leary , Jennings etc and practically all other players on the field are from England, Scotland, wales or the island of Ireland compared to todays league of nations cobbled together to the highest bidder.

Dirty talented foreigners coming over stealing other well paid footballers jobs in a open free market, how dare they.

Unfortunately diving has been underpenalised in the "modern game", and there should be far firmer and consistent rules and enforcement to deal with it.

irish players no longer regularly feature in top english teams because the football development and professional structures here are starved of money due to Irish people supporting English teams which is a bit ironic when most hardcore Ireland national team fans are plastic 'mancs' and 'scousers'.

Hasn’t been for years either, it just turned later than soccer.

we no longer feature because the competition for places with a top flight team stretches global nowadays

Yet countries with similar or close populations to us produce more top level players than us.

I remember a quote from paddy crerand of man united who said in that time if someone hit you and you didn't respond in kind then you'd lost face.

One of my earliest memories of watching live football and the fa cup final was this game.

It had a fantastic ending. A classic.

And to get back to the topic of the 1979 fa cup final known was the five minute final because arsenal were 2-0 and lou macarai and Gordon McQueen scored for United and then Alan Sutherland got the winner by getting his left foot to a cross.

I can remember even the finals of the 1990s in the old Wembley there was just a big time feel to it and it was the last game of the season.
