we have a long way to go to catch up on most other European countries, hopefully Eir's urban rollout will make more of a difference in the next year. Of course this doesn't show services like Virgin which have FTTH equivalent speeds, if that was included Ireland would be far higher on the list.

Other countries might have Virgin type services also which could push us back down.

Siro say Ireland is in 18th. Am I reading the Table correctly because Ireland shows up in 28th position on the screenshot.

Graph is FTTH+FTTB, SIRO are commenting on FTTH alone.

Arguably this is correct as you have some apartment blocks with fiber to the basement and 10/30Mb services to each unit over copper. Not exactly what people think of as FTTH speeds.

Virgin are hitting our numbers but at 300k odd bb subs not hugely. They'll move to the new fiber coax system but very very slowly.

Wasn't aware that's all some Apartment blocks are getting. At those speeds it's not worth having . Surely 4g and 5g is a better way to go.

This has moved Ireland up 2 places from 20th position in the EU 28 league table to 18th”

Ireland are in 18th place in the EU28 so you ignore countries like Iceland, Belarus, Russia, Norway etc from the list you posted. It has nothing to do with Siro ignoring FTTB. LOL at thinking the FTTH council is counting 10 or 30 Megabit services in it's rankings.

Beware of what you read on this forum. Lots of posters commenting on things they don't really understand. The poster above is a prime example.
